How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

My room (10) needed some storage eg a chest of drawers or a wardrobe. There were a few coat hangers on the bracket for the TV - that is all. The room was quite drab and depressing - there were hooks on the wall but no pictures to cheer it up. The shared toilet was down two flight of stairs, wasn't very clean and the room was very narrow making it hard to 'clean up' after a number 2!
The guy who did check in was friendly. It's centrally located.

was very warm in the room (could have been the weather) was no air con or fan to minimise it. shower was either boiling or freezing, decor was dated and room could do with paint touch up tlc etc.
comfy beds, enough space for everyone staying and room for travel cot. Owner was pleasant and tried his best to accommodate us despite a very last minute booking and gave us a downstairs room due to my friends limited mobility.

the hotel could provide more coffee and milk to guests, as these seem very limited. The hotel needs to update the details on booking.com as it was previously owned by an LGBTQ couple and now it isn't.
The room was clean and tidy the room had reasonable facilities the bed was freshly made with plenty of pillows The room and a nice veiw

As a housekeeper of B&Bs once myself, I'd suggest a few things the hosts could add to the rooms. - a lamp for each bedside table. - some new colourful blinds for the windows as the ones we had were flimsy and old-fashioned. - some little shower gels and shampoos in the bathroom would be lovely, and a little rack to place them on within the actual shower. - some biscuits on the tray for snacks. 😀👌
Extremely friendly and helpful hosts 😀 The location was pretty much spot on for where we needed to go. The rooms were very basic, but clean & comfortable. The price was reasonable enough but suppose because there was no breakfast, it could perhaps be a tad cheaper. Otherwise we were happy due to having such pleasant hosts.

The building smells musky
For the price you get what you pay for, the hotel was clean, the owner was polite, friendly, and approcable, could do with a refurb, but I guess that will bump the price up.

DOUBLE BED IN FAMILY/TRIPPLE ROOM A BIT NARROW - NEITHER OF US IS A LARGE PERSON, THERE LOOKS TO BE ENOUGH SPACE TO FIT IN A FULL SIZED DOUBLE BED.

The shower was only lukewarm, so let it run for a bit but to no effect. Made host aware of this for future guests. As only stayed 1 night this wasn’t a problem. Maybe toiletries could be provided.
Host was very welcoming. No breakfast. Had booked quadruple room but on arrival upgraded to apartment. Good size room. Centre town location. If anything amiss, informed host and he would fix it.

Not enough room in family room to put a cot last night there, there was a lot banging and shouting and was stated tower view which was hidden behind some houses so that is false advertising and £80 a night was not good value when other places which included breakfast was £40 no sitting room like advertised either

No elevator , very steep stairs I struggled to Make it to the top , i struggled to see the tv as it was really small , the bathroom walls have a few broken pieces of paint. a hairdryer would have been nice

Unfortunately for me I had noisy selfish neighbours 2 out of the 3 night's I was there but other than that no Complaints.. Good Value for Money
