Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA few minor aesthetic issues in the toilet/bathroom. Restaurant was closed on the evening of our arrival but plenty of other restaurants closeby. Breakfast was good apart from the quality of bacon and sausage, which need upgrading.
All staff were friendly and accommodating. They were happy to change our room to a quieter and cooler room and provided a fan. Room was spacious and clean and having a separate wc to the bathroom works well.

CanadaA bit dated, old and worn carpets in the halls. Elevator was broken. All deadbolts have been taken out of the doors for “fire safety reasons” which was super weird. Very dusty room and bathroom floor wasn’t clean. TV remote was broken.
Decently updated furnishings and in a fantastic location within walking distance of all sorts of shops and restaurants. It did the job.

United KingdomNo security latch on doors. No sink in separate toilet to wash hands, so you have to open doors etc to get to main bathroom to wash hands in sink. Meaning everyone else has done the same. Yuk! Very minor point- Toilet paper should be folded into a v not stuffed into the roll! Room doors need cleaning, carpets could be cleaner as not fresh smelling. Wallpaper lifting. One bedside light not working. No power or usb charging next to bed. Shower pressure and flow lacking and although thermostatic, seemed to fluctuate cold and hot. Bottom Bed sheets were uneven (protector not on properly) and not tucked in properly. All beds should be stripped down every time. Bedding irritated my asthma (I’m very sensitive to dust mites) Wasn’t offered any choice of how my eggs were done for breakfast - although what I had was ok. Comments are meant as informative for the hotel to improve, rather than an angry rant.
Location good, check in staff nice. Bathroom recently renovated and clean. Lift/elevator good as I have bad knees. Breakfast was ok. Thick white towels. Easy access to rooms via keycard.

United KingdomThe corridor walls and skirtings are scuffed and need cleaning up, and the corridor carpets have threadbare patches. There is no fridge in the rooms, but I knew that in advance, it is non the less an inconvenience. There's a nice bar menu in the rooms and says to call down for room service - fine but there's no phone in the rooms. When a friend and myself wanted a meal the only menu we were told was available was a completely different set menu, which we accepted. The whole experience was very Fawlty Towers, being given a jug of milk before the main course saying our tea and coffee which we hadn't ordered, would be served in a minute. The menu had retro offerings such as fruit juice as a starter but we opted for mushrooms which were actually fantastic. The main meal reminded me of economy airline meal, lacking seasoning and just plonked on the plate with no finesse. The Veg were overcooked and not to my liking, the rest was OK but not fantastic. The bath tap fittings are full of limescale and leak. This meant I could not operate the collar that switched from bath to shower. A member of staff could do it but I coudnt. The taps leaked when switched on and I couldnt help feel this meant they used more water than was necessary in the shower and therefore the cost of using a vinegar spray to descale would have paid for itself. Despite what was said in the room manual, housekeeping wasnt done daily. On my first morning the tea and coffee tray was replenished but nothing else was done, bed not made and bins not emptied. (One of the bins really needed emptying too!)
I have stayed there a few times before, and whereas its far from perfect, I know what to expect. Its big attraction for me is that there is a lift as I dont handle stairs too well. However, it always has been a bit of a cross between Crossroads and Fawlty Towers. The good news is that the cobwebs on the light fittings in the Foyer that featured for at least a year were no longer there. Also since my last stay the chipped dark brown paintwork has become chipped grey paintwork. This is both a positive in so much its left some of the Crossroads feel behind where it belongs in the 70's or 80's and negative in so much as it needs touching up. Breakfast is adequate but not generous. The staff are generally helpful and courteous. The beds are comfortable.
