Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had a very pleasant two days at The Walnuts. Our room had a separate bathroom, which was right next to the room, so as good as an ensuite. There was a toaster, microwave, and fridge and a selection of plates, mugs cultlery for your convenience. We were going to the races at Newmarket, which is less than half an hour away. The Riverside at Ely was our other destination, and well worth a visit. Steve was an excellent host, and it was fascinating talking to him about his former career as a jockey, and of course, meeting Purr and Topper his two beautiful horses. Thank you, Steve. United KingdomWhat a fabulous property! It felt like i was staying in a beautiful French chateau in the middle of summer. Hosts were brilliant, so friendly and couldn't do enough. Room was huge and so clean. Having a fridge, microwave, kettle etc was a huge bonus. I loved the character and the peacefulness of the property. Lovely location in a beautiful village. I travel extensively with my job and finding absolute gems like this with lovely owners is the holy grail! Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thank you for everything.

United KingdomNot much to say here, since all arrangements suited me down to the ground. I would normally sigh a breath of relief at the offer of having breakfast "late" ie after noon, very few places offer that as an option. I appreciate the sentiment and reasons. Yes it was a Sunday, but I had to be away soon after 10:15 but it may have been nice to have had the option of breakfast of some kind in the morning before I left. I do understand, Sundays are usually lazy, but for me, I had to travel somewhere else. Not really a criticism but as a marshall at a biking charity ride, it would have been good to know I might fuel up on some bread or yoghurt or something as I was on my feet much of the day at my next destination. Not such a lazy Sunday for me ;-) I will ask next time, if they do have breakfasts that late routinely at weekends, that they might reserve me something and plate it up the night before in a cool bag placed outside my room. Bit of juice, fruit, yoghurt maybe a roll - just a suggestion to keep your one or two night trade coming back ;-)
Very cosy period setting in a grade 2 listed property. It brought back memories of my own childhood with the lovely antique feel to the the rooms and furniture. It was nevertheless, very homely and perfrect for my one night stay. I didn't use the bath but the shower was fine, perfectly warm and all facilities good quality. Even the kettle was filled to the brim ready for me to se and the bed, very comfortable. I had a lovely walk to the nearby pub across the fields. It has been newly acquired by new owners, quite a lively locals place but good food and very good price for it too! Thank you, a lovely stay and Steve was so friendly and helpful. It was a lovely quiet room, just the occasional muffled conversation from upstairs or an adjacent wall could be heard, and kids clearly running about a little early on Sunday - but not too much of an issue. I live next to a major A road, this was bliss in comparison. Really, this was kind of nice really, it made me feel I wasn't actually in some kind of monastery - still a lovely stay and so quiet. Nice to hear owls at night!

United StatesNothing following this point is the fault of the host: As an American getting used to having 3-4 ft. of car to my left instead of my right, I found driving in that particular area to be challenging. The roads are narrow and winding, and the residents come barreling at you at full speed. If you're not confident in your driving skills for whatever reason, you may be better off having someone drop you off.
The host was very warm, very helpful, and very communicative. The area we stayed in was beautiful and peaceful, and getting over to our meeting at RAF Mildenhall was very easy.
