No handrail to get out of shower/bath, no fan in room it was very hot when we went and leaving the window open we could hear passing traffic from the road.

Centrally located. Easy to walk wherever in town you need to be. Communication prior to arrival was great. Angus greeted us as planned on arrival and was really friendly, knowledgable and amenable. We had the room with skylight only, but even in the 30 degree heat, it was cool and we slept better than at home!

Wonderful reception and truly love dogs there. We had a block wide power outage the first night but the owners were extremely accommodating. If you have a dog this is the place to stay.

The toilet in our room was a little cramped (separate toilet and shower) and the shower room wasn't enormous but it wasn't a huge issue. It wasn't a problem for us but it is an extremely dog friendly place so if you have an issue with them it's possibly not the place for you!

The hosts were absolutely outstanding, it is right in the middle of Bowness so ideal if that's where you are planning to be, the room was spotlessly clean and the four poster bed was comfortable. Absolutely no complaints especially for the price! Breakfast is extra but very good and definitely worth the price - just try finding anything as good cheaper in Bowness! No onsite parking but there is a carpark 5 minutes walk away which is reasonably priced for a couple of days although it does get busy at peak times so if you are planning on driving somewhere for the day it would be advisable not to get back too early.

Angus and Cherrie where so lovely friendly and made us feel welcome. Loved the B&B, beautiful rooms with a fab view from my window. Right in the heart of Bowness and next to 1 of me local pubs where I go sometimes when I come here. Couldn't fault anything about Virginia cottage.

The only downside is the parking. If you don’t arrive early then you may struggle to find a parking space. That’s the downside of having such an excellent location. Angus does provide directions to the nearest car park.

The location of the accommodation is excellent. Room was more than adequate, providing everything that we needed. The breakfast was excellent, prepared by chef Angus, the owner.

The lack of parking makes loading and unloading a bit fraught, but apart from that, nothing to gripe about 😁. On the parking front, the car park is quite close, and the 3 day ticket is very good value, about 7 pounds a day😁, compared to York, it's remarkably cheap 🫤.

Everything and everyone was really nice. The room was very comfortable, and (we had the "suite") large. The location couldn't be better, 2 mins from the lake😁. The building is very quirky😁. Nice touches like fresh milk for your room and bathrobes. The spa bath was very welcome after hiking 😏😁. Great check-in policy! We didn't have a dog, but the place is very dog friendly, and we might come back with my daughter's dog! 🤣 The first pic below is the view from the room, and the second is from the Jetty Museum, about a 10-minute walk and well worth a visit.

No parking is an issue but it was reasonable in the town centre and very close by.

Service was excellent. Our room was upgraded due to our amount of luggage. Our room was lovely and cosy and the bathroom / shower was excellent. All of our needs were met and both Angus and Sherry were amazing hosts. The breakfast was outstanding and we would stay again in an instant.
