How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Nice, large room. Very friendly staff. I was literally only there for a few hours to sleep so didn't look around or have breakfast but was perfect for what I needed!

Saggy mattress. Cooked breakfast. Bacon and mushrooms had been kept warm so long they were inedible. Scrambled eggs were far too salty and the beans were cold. There was no natural yogurt. Would go elsewhere for breakfast and have suggested this to friends who are visiting.
Relaxed atmosphere. Fairly quiet. Lots of hot water and big old fashioned bath/bathroom Pleasant, but scant, staff. Parking available.

Bit disappointed about 1 thing to do with cleaning/safety. Don’t really know how it was missed . Everything else was spot on. A very comfortable room.

Breakfast was poor, small, not very hot and black pudding was unavailable. The room and public areas were a little tired, could do with a little tlc.
Reception staff were very good and helpful. Good location central to the town.

Our waitress was on her own at Breakfast and we had to wait 30 minutes for our hot full English. She was working very hard and was apologetic about the delay but should not have been on her own.
Upgrade to family room was appreciated especially as it was so hot.

We had a comedy gold situation where we were first given keys to room and walked in on someone already in the room. Whilst this was sorted swiftly ,really shouldn’t happen for obvious reasons! Like other visitors we noticed the dirty windows ,paintwork that needs redoing etc. which is a shame as detracts from overall impression of the hotel. Breakfast really wasn’t good especially the continental option which was quite uninspiring .Fresh fruit clearly not fresh for example. Husbands cooked breakfast was good .
Location is good right in centre of Buckingham. Lovely old building. Nice duplex room with breakfast. Staff were very good , notably Sammy ( I think) who resolved room booking problem with swift upgrade. Breakfast waitress Room clean etc , air conditioning on very hot night

The flush on the toilet was quite weak The breakfast was disappointing
Our room was even nicer than the pictures, clean and really comfortable. The lounge area was open and spacious and the bedroom had the perfect tone for a good nights sleeps

Some of the group got rooms in the old wing where the bath fittings were old and the room was very warm due to the warm weather. We could not open one window and there were many cobwebs all over the windows and even some of the doors

In our room there was no fridge and the air conditioner did not work, so we had +27 degrees at daytime. In the room of my son of the same category there were both fridge and air conditioner. The breakfast doesn’t serve a la carte anymore. The tables in the restaurant were sticky even before we started dinner. The quality of the hotel gets worse every year (I have stayed several times since 2018), even though the price is higher than anywhere around.
Best choice if you need to be in Buckingham. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a parking.
