How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGood location but a bit difficult to find. Quirky interior. Good sea view. Parking available..
Welcome was less than gracious no reception staff only bar staff. Booked twin room with sea view. First room provided had lovely sea view, but a double bed and a very strong smell of sewage and was on third floors up about 45 quite steep steps. Staff were mostly very friendly and found us an alternative family room with seperate beds, on a lower floor but no view and a bit noisy. Breakfast was good but lacked finesse. No milk jugs on the table etc. and staff not very attentive.

Verified reviewView from the bedroom. Central location.
The breakfast was a comedy sketch. All guests pre-ordered their breakfast only to be served a completely different selection of items on the plate. Guests then watched as the waitress tried to match the plate contents to the guests. We looked forward to breakfast every morning to see what would appear on our plates and whose breakfast we'd be served.

Verified reviewThis is a traditional old hotel, with all pros and cons. The atmosphere is great, the pub on the ground floor is great with quite a variety of local beer, there might be music gigs worth attending. Small but quite clean old rooms with old ensuite bathrooms, takes you back to the old days of seafaring and fishing. Amazing share living room on the first floor! Amazing location, right in the heart of the historic core and the harbour.
It is quite old. No elevators. Not parking space guaranteed: there are 28 rooms, 11 parking spaces and a first-come first-serve policy, so it is almost certain that you will have to pay a lot at the private parking close to the hotel.

A little money spent on good beds would go a long way to make this facility an enjoyable stay.

Verified reviewIt's a historic hotel, there are paintings from the 1800s showing it. Views from the window were fantastic and the furniture was in the style of the hotel. It gave ambiance to the room.
As an old place there are some inevitable maintenance problems but nothing was a deal breaker. The mattress could have been better, but not a problem for a short stay

Poor management. Booked 3 rooms only had 1 when we showed up. All 4 of us had to stay in one room the first night. The front desk is seldom open.

Verified reviewThe location is great. The property is kind of run down. It has charm and was comfortable but a good clean and some sprucing up would go a long way.
Loud horrible Irish jig music in the bar kept us awake.

Verified reviewThe location was good, amongst other restaurants and pubs, supermarket nearby and short walk to beach. Breakfast was terrific.
It’s an old pub so our expectations weren’t high. The bed was a double but it felt really small due to the bed frame at the foot end. The real problem is the floor boards, they need nailing down, it feels like people are constantly walking past the room and it’s quite annoying.

The bed was very uncomfortable. The room was hot (no air con or blackout blinds against the sun). The shower was quite weak.

Verified reviewWe loved the location and the sea view from the room window Kyla from the breakfast room was wonderful polite and very pleasant
Emily in reception was dismissive stroppy, and arrogant on our arrival and every time we met her. I cannot believe how rudely, without any reasons, she behaved towards us. When we got into the room I saw crumbles, clothes tags, 1 plump pip and several cherry pips on the floor. I couldn't believe my eyes. I called the domestic who truly apologized and felt terribly embarrassed. I told her not to worry as she was sweet and apologetic. We could not take a single shower as the temperature regulator didn't work, the water was freezing cold or scalding! The bed and the floors were very creaky.

Verified reviewFrom the website I liked the hotel being in town but minutes from the sea.
Dirty, dated, floor boards sticking up and noisy when tread on. Although website did say music in bar to midnight they didn't say 'also directly opposite a teenage night club' Breakfast from 07:00 but I went down 07:30 and no staff in sight anywhere. Check in was at the pub bar so you had to wait to be served.

Verified reviewThe staff were excellent when they were there. A young lady helped us with our bags up the stairs and a man ran our breakfast down to our car when we failed to find him earlier in the morning. The facilities need a good cleaning--cobwebs were common. But there weren't standard things in our room like a hair dryer! Also, the stairs are so steep that there should be a warning for older customers like us. Just getting up the stairs hurt my knees!
I think i covered that.
