Lacking in many aspects, but a very interesting venue and a good location with parking.

Welcome was less than gracious no reception staff only bar staff. Booked twin room with sea view. First room provided had lovely sea view, but a double bed and a very strong smell of sewage and was on third floors up about 45 quite steep steps. Staff were mostly very friendly and found us an alternative family room with seperate beds, on a lower floor but no view and a bit noisy. Breakfast was good but lacked finesse. No milk jugs on the table etc. and staff not very attentive.

Good location but a bit difficult to find. Quirky interior. Good sea view. Parking available..

The breakfast was a comedy sketch. All guests pre-ordered their breakfast only to be served a completely different selection of items on the plate. Guests then watched as the waitress tried to match the plate contents to the guests. We looked forward to breakfast every morning to see what would appear on our plates and whose breakfast we'd be served.

View from the bedroom. Central location.

Old traditional hotel. No parking guaranteed.

It is quite old. No elevators. Not parking space guaranteed: there are 28 rooms, 11 parking spaces and a first-come first-serve policy, so it is almost certain that you will have to pay a lot at the private parking close to the hotel.

This is a traditional old hotel, with all pros and cons. The atmosphere is great, the pub on the ground floor is great with quite a variety of local beer, there might be music gigs worth attending. Small but quite clean old rooms with old ensuite bathrooms, takes you back to the old days of seafaring and fishing. Amazing share living room on the first floor! Amazing location, right in the heart of the historic core and the harbour.

As an old place there are some inevitable maintenance problems but nothing was a deal breaker. The mattress could have been better, but not a problem for a short stay

It's a historic hotel, there are paintings from the 1800s showing it. Views from the window were fantastic and the furniture was in the style of the hotel. It gave ambiance to the room.

Loud horrible Irish jig music in the bar kept us awake.

The location is great. The property is kind of run down. It has charm and was comfortable but a good clean and some sprucing up would go a long way.

It’s an old pub so our expectations weren’t high. The bed was a double but it felt really small due to the bed frame at the foot end. The real problem is the floor boards, they need nailing down, it feels like people are constantly walking past the room and it’s quite annoying.

The location was good, amongst other restaurants and pubs, supermarket nearby and short walk to beach. Breakfast was terrific.

Little things that could have been easily sorted ie rubber seal on sink plug was missing so water drained away almost as fast as filled up sink, no toilet roll holder & one of the bedside cabinets had the handle missing. Also, there was no shower just a bath, not an issue for us, but could be for some people

Convenient location for ferry & train station, nice large bedroom. Good that breakfast was included, made things a lot easier.

    Overall, our stay was fine.

Breakfast was split between two dining spaces (only one had drinks, toaster etc available) so we had to keep walking between the rooms. Our bathroom was basic (an old coloured suite) the shower dial kept falling off, the pressure was weak and the shower head would not stay upright in its holder. When we mentioned this to reception they sorted the shower head holder but the dial for temperature still fell off. The beds were comfortable, but behind were many layers of dust on the skirting board (I only noticed this when I went to plug in my phone charger). There are so many things that could be done to improve this hotel. I would have thought that the small complimentary bathroom bottles could be replaced with fixed refillable more environmentally dispensers and the small boxes of cereal etc replaced with larger containers to pour from. Saving on waste, environment and in the long term expense.

Great location and staff. I loved the historic decor/artwork. Overall, our stay was fine.

The room lacked a chair ( but one was provided). No safe and the basin was so small it was almost unusable. The toilet made an awful noise when flushed and no one tidied the room so the water bin in the shower was overflowing with a weeks rubbish. The television didnt work but a new one was provided after a few days.

John was very good and the location was great. The shower was very good.

The shower was not working properly. A hair dryer was not in the room so we have to ask one for us. Staff in the main reception were not so friendly. But the bar staff are helpful who takes reception matters when the main is closed.

The Wi-Fi was very weak in my room, presumably due to the location.

Breakfast was very good and the member of staff was so capable of managing our requests. The pub was a comfortable place to enjoy drinks and chat. I especially enjoyed the calls of birds outside at night, which brought me a unique experience.
