Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSpa / indoor pool were tired looking and there were very few loungers to sit on. The food and drinks were extortionate! Bed wasn’t particularly comfy - two single mattresses zipped together but one was much higher and firmer than the other!
Lovely decor and impressive building. Staff very friendly. Great size room. Outdoor pool was a lovely setting.

United KingdomNothing that we didn't like really. Just a few things that could be improved on the food/beverage side mentioned earlier. Frankly we find that this place deserves a better rating than the current score it holds of 8.4
Charming place to stay in from another era, the surroundings are equally unique with the combination of lakes and gardens that you will walk or cycle through. We found the facilities offered equally great with indoor, outdoor pools, spa, sauna, bicycles on site... Not many hotels will offer the whole combo. And at a competitive price. Excellent and friendly staff, we were able to choose the Junior suite we liked most upon arrival (instead of the one we booked). We recommend staying in the mansion rather than in the gardens rooms The food was a bit less exciting. Too classic perhaps or too limited a selection (Breakfast buffet) but travelling with our dog, we could not experience lunch or diner on site so our point here is specific

United KingdomLimited food options in the lounge bar - but the food was delicious, apart from the skin-on chips. Extremely fatty and crunchy not enough fluffy potato.
Extensive grounds to explore. Nice indoor and outdoor pools. Really nice room - spacious and luxurious. Excellent breakfast - cooked options made to order and a lovely buffet to help yourself to as well. Staff are fantastic.

United KingdomThe placement of the room was a bit dingy and dark, and because I was by myself it would have been nicer a bit brighter. Though because my room was super comfortable and placed close to the facilities of the spa, gym and pool, I was not too fussed. The gardens are vast and beautiful, I think I got a bit lost and did not find a few of the spots, therefore possibly better signage or mapping. The ones I did see were beautiful.
The location is good and easy to get to by train. The hotel and grounds are beautiful. The room was super comfortable, spacious and lovely. I chose Tylney Hall because of the grounds, the hotel’s architecture was super appealing, the pool and spa facilities, and I was very happy when I arrived. There is privacy so you can just relax in your own world away and the staff at the same time are very nice and attentive. I will definitely visit again.

United KingdomCould door with aircon in the room but provided a tower fan which was needed. Bathroom a little dated and shower very weak for someone with long hair and shower head wouldn't stay straight. Biggest letdown were bar prices around the pool. £27 for two medium wines ! 😱
Lovely location. Beautiful grounds. Reception staff were amazing, got us our room straight away. Room was very spacious and clean. We're very lucky with the weather and used the outdoor pool. The gentleman behind the pool bar was so lovely and always chatty. Nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing and the staff very attentive and lovely.

United KingdomNearly £20 for an alcoholic drink is ridiculous, pricing for food inside ridiculous. As a family of five, we actually booked a nearby pub which was a fraction of the price and tasty. I’m sure inside the hotel the food would be tasty but in this age there needs to be options but we did eat at lunchtime and that was reasonably priced at the bar. I do not like that the fact it is cashless and if you do pay by cash, they will not give you change.
It wasn’t overly busy, but we did do a Sunday to Monday stay. Staff were attentive. It was sunny. Staff by the pool were so good. Bar man too was really nice, think he said he was new to the area.

United KingdomPump the tyres up on the bikes and have a couple of tools available to adjust the seats to different heights. Jacuzzi is cold not hot so manage your expectations. Sauna is single sex so can’t chat together if going with a partner. It is pricey and be prepared significant service charge will be added to bill. Food didn’t quite warrant the price but was still great and they have a captive audience and location is wonderful so would definitely go again and recommend. But not really a high quality spa by today’s standards. The massage table was quite uncomfortable when lying on your front and they don’t do deep tissue massage more relaxing. Think table worked really well for facial (had a great facial) but really uncomfortable and narrow when lying face down and I’m only 5ft 5 and not big so would definitely change that. Easy improvement. But do recommend all up. Service was hans down best I’ve ever had - front desk, bar, restaurant, spa - consistently brilliant.
The grounds are stunning especially the water gardens. Views over the lawns from the balcony were special. We watched the sun set on the terrace with a gin and tonic which felt very civilised. We used the outdoor pool, free bikes and but ran out of time for a game of croquet! Room was super comfortable. Food great and service impeccable.

United KingdomThe welcome at Reception on arrival ! We got there early around 13:00 and asked if we could check in knowing our room wouldn’t be ready, not a problem we were going to the bar anyways but the man made us feel un welcome and almost shoo shooed us into the bar ! When you’re paying this sort of money a bit of respect and understanding would have been expected at least ! We had travelled to get there and as a couple with a large family and my Husbands life expectancy cut short, we cherish every moment alone together ! So from the offset decided not for us ! My family have been brought up to Always be kind, as you never know what someone’s going thru and this Receptionist was just rude and had no time, because we’d arrived early ?
The elegance the etiquette and most of the staff

United Arab EmiratesThe room was very hot. There was no AC. They provided us with fans but the room was like an oven although the weather outside was pleasant at night. The windows were small so not enough to cool the room We stayed for 2 nights but our room was never cleaned although I did remind the team to clean it when I left for a road trip but it wasn't touched when I got back at night which was very disappointing Another issue was that the reception doesn't answer the call when they are occupied as I always found one staff at the reception who can't do everything when he is busy. They definitely need to have more staff at the reception
The property is amazing and beautiful as manor. The breakfast was very nice. The room was very big and spacious and of course the grounds were beautiful

United KingdomNo aircon very very humid- fan in room needed to be stronger.
The hotel itself was a lovely property to be around in, facilities were great, only thing I would say was there was no aircon in the room we had and it was a particularly humid evening- but apart from that couldn’t fault the hotel/ staff atall! Staff couldn’t do enough and hotel was lovely.
