To stay in an old house that has some history, comfortable and clean

Wasn't easy to find, a sign at the main gate would help

We booked this property. based on a map in New Zealand. What a great stop, when we arrived we thought we had arrived at the wrong place, the grand building and grounds were not expected. But the surprise came on entering our room, brilliant. The quiet situation and comfortable bed provided the best nights sleep for ages. Recommended ….

    Good size room

The appearance outside reminded me of the Addams Family accommodation. Scruffy with two brocken down vehicles at the front, bicycles left laying around, not good first impressions. When entering the building, it felt entering a haunted mansion made worse by the main staircase still under renovation. At this point, I nearly turned round and left. However, I was somewhat pleased with accommodation, a good dining area, a large bathroom, and a walk-in closest. The bed was far too small. Although there were plates and cutlery supplied, there was no kitchen area to wash up properly. We had to use the small bathroom sink and dry with bathroom towels. The room had a beautiful view, but the grounds let it down. When the building is finished being renovated, maybe then I would consider staying again. Actually, no, I wouldn't.

The accommodation was excellent. Large bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. It suits single travellers or couples. Access to the bedroom is up the stairs, so not suitable for someone with poor mobility. This is a unique property with a fascinating history and is situated in the countryside. Beautiful views.

We did not meet anyone from the staff. It would have been good to chat with someone about this unique property. We did meet a couple of workmen as we left the next morning. The nearest restaurant is a long way.

Loved the big TV and the space, the bathroom was huge

Very out of the way, tiny roads to get there.

The allocated room is beautiful. Massive bathroom with some nice little touches. Gorgeous views over the hills and fields beyond.

It’s an ongoing project so the outside and the entrance still look like a disused building. Very deceptive on arrival as initial signage says you’re entering private property. With nowhere nearby to get food, access to a little kitchenette would be useful. It’s a good 15 minute drive to Aberystwyth

location excellent - very quiet room and bathroom very spacious and whilst we only stayed the one night would be ideal base for exploring from views are excellent.

the only downside was that the water in the bathroom was luke warm and their was a slight smell of drains though the property is in the throws of renovation and am sure it will be picked up. Otherwise fascinating house

Wow what a fantastic place to stay i did my homework before we came and theres so much history attached to this part of the building. When we entered into the house the first room was just so stunning a mix of old and the new . Then up a very old but grand staircase that is still a work in progress . We met one of the owners he was very helpful and we had a quick chat about the history of the building . The suite we had was just so beautiful the views are stunning and its just so peaceful , the little touches like the bubble bath and the jug of milk in the fridge just added to a wonderful stay .

Lovely location, spacious accommodation, milk in fridge to accompany the tea/coffee facilities. We would happily stay again now that we know how the system works and what food we need to bring.Local pubs and restaurants are not always open on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Initial impressions were “Are we in the right place?” as externally it looked quite run down. The “no entry, private property” sign was uninviting and misleading for us as first time visitors to the central wing. We had a very poor phone signal(Vodaphone),and no 4G, so initially couldn't access the email with the door code. It was quite worrying ( my wife even thought we’d been scammed!) Better use of apartment space would have made it easier to prepare breakfast (no bread knife or breadboard). There is no food heating or cooking facilities ( not even a toaster!)

Room was stunning. Huge and very comfortable. House is a work in progress but it will be fabulous when finished. Quiet and beautiful surroundings. Inny very helpful and friendly. Wifi was very good.

Directions to the house weren't great and there are no signs. We struggled to get in as the welcome email was incomplete. No-one else there which was a bit isolating.

Amazing location. Room was incredibly spacious with wonderful aspect over the surrounding countryside. Fantastic bathroom with freestanding bathroom.

Not the easiest directions to follow- could do with being much clearer. The room was really very cold when we arrived- we tried turning radiators up but the heating was completely off. After contacting the owner We had to wait over an hour for the heating to be turned on, so had a cold evening huddled in bed. By the time it was on we didn’t need it as we were going to sleep. Bedding lets the room down- really synthetic. There was no milk left for hot drinks - I did message owner to ask but the didn’t reply.

Very large apartment, consistent with the gentry of past times. Clean. Modern facilities with the luxury touches of a country mansion.

GPS refused to show location. Had to rely on Owners emailed instructions, which is fine but we came in on a different road and found property did not have any signage. Had to ask locals. Complicated rules associated with shared ownership of the property.
