Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe did not meet anyone from the staff. It would have been good to chat with someone about this unique property. We did meet a couple of workmen as we left the next morning. The nearest restaurant is a long way.
The accommodation was excellent. Large bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. It suits single travellers or couples. Access to the bedroom is up the stairs, so not suitable for someone with poor mobility. This is a unique property with a fascinating history and is situated in the countryside. Beautiful views.

United KingdomIt’s an ongoing project so the outside and the entrance still look like a disused building. Very deceptive on arrival as initial signage says you’re entering private property. With nowhere nearby to get food, access to a little kitchenette would be useful. It’s a good 15 minute drive to Aberystwyth
The allocated room is beautiful. Massive bathroom with some nice little touches. Gorgeous views over the hills and fields beyond.

United Kingdomthe only downside was that the water in the bathroom was luke warm and their was a slight smell of drains though the property is in the throws of renovation and am sure it will be picked up. Otherwise fascinating house
location excellent - very quiet room and bathroom very spacious and whilst we only stayed the one night would be ideal base for exploring from views are excellent.

United KingdomInitial impressions were “Are we in the right place?” as externally it looked quite run down. The “no entry, private property” sign was uninviting and misleading for us as first time visitors to the central wing. We had a very poor phone signal(Vodaphone),and no 4G, so initially couldn't access the email with the door code. It was quite worrying ( my wife even thought we’d been scammed!) Better use of apartment space would have made it easier to prepare breakfast (no bread knife or breadboard). There is no food heating or cooking facilities ( not even a toaster!)
Lovely location, spacious accommodation, milk in fridge to accompany the tea/coffee facilities. We would happily stay again now that we know how the system works and what food we need to bring.Local pubs and restaurants are not always open on Mondays and Tuesdays.

United KingdomDirections to the house weren't great and there are no signs. We struggled to get in as the welcome email was incomplete. No-one else there which was a bit isolating.
Room was stunning. Huge and very comfortable. House is a work in progress but it will be fabulous when finished. Quiet and beautiful surroundings. Inny very helpful and friendly. Wifi was very good.

AustraliaGPS refused to show location. Had to rely on Owners emailed instructions, which is fine but we came in on a different road and found property did not have any signage. Had to ask locals. Complicated rules associated with shared ownership of the property.
Very large apartment, consistent with the gentry of past times. Clean. Modern facilities with the luxury touches of a country mansion.

United KingdomBe aware it is located a good 8 miles from Aberystwyth with nothing nearby. Cut back the shrubs on the drive way a little I was concerned of scratching my car. Again was expecting good things about the shower after numerous raves but not any better than ours at home & made a hell of a racket sliding the door however I can see why people like it as it really looks impressive and is large as is the entire bathroom.
Directions to the property excellent, it’s not an easy find but directions took us almost to it, (we went wrong and ended up at the rear but not a problem to drive to front, easy enough). Now I’ve read many many reviews of exceptional standard etc & was therefore expecting really good things. It was a very large space with a large bathroom, it was at one point a very grand mansion which you’ll see as you enter but in our opinion the updating of the mansion for whatever reason has stopped mid process and it is sad to see it in this state. The hallway looks like it’s in the process of being done up (and is a right old mess) but it isn’t as it’s not been touched in years. As you enter the apartment you notice the grand nature of it & it is lovely and very big but not as grand or as clean as people have suggested. When you switch the lights on at night you see the cobwebs that you don’t see in the day and when it is being cleaned you won’t see them either. It has some mis matched furniture which they have tried to make look appropriate for a mansion but have failed and again just our opinion. It is located in a very very peaceful location with great views. In the grand hall downstairs there are games and a pool table for customers use. Bed was very comfy. The owner was readily available if you needed her but equally not seen unless you want her and on the occasion we saw her she was very polite and gave us some milk for our drinks, thank you.

AustraliaNothing not to like ( NOTE... as stated no food around in the nearby area or onsite )
The room and facilities are exactly as shown in the photos. They are HUGE. It was fantastic. The Mansion, other than these rooms and the reception room, is restoration work in progress. The setting is very rural and quiet. No phone reception but internet wifi was good. We didnt see one other person while there for two nights

AustraliaThe hall and stairs leading up to the suite were clearly mid-renovation and we're sadly extremely dirty. It had me questioning my choice of accommodation. To be warned of this would have been appreciated. Also when we booked breakfast was included however days prior to arrival were informed this wasn't the case. Disappointing as the price should have reflected this.
The suite itself was exactly as depicted ... nothing not to like. The lounge at the entry door was spacious and tidy.

United KingdomMy cousin and I have enjoyed travelling together in many countries but, good friends though we are, we do need our own sleeping space, so it was disappointing to find that the suite I had booked did not actually have a separate room for the sofa bed one of us would be using.
It was a really interesting place to stay! A lot of work has obviously been done towards restoring the mansion. It was fun to see the progress which has been made and we wish them every success in future work.

AustraliaNo complaints at all.
Huge rooms in an historic mansion that is being renovated. The Central Wing Suite we stayed in was magnificent; the bed very comfortable, the shower enormous. Well worth the price which is a bit low I guess because of the renovating but this didn't bother us at all. Just a great experience in the countryside.
