Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI didn't like the bathroom having glass instead of a wall between the bedroom and bathroom. Thankfully there was the living room to sit in for privacy.
Room was comfortable, staff was friendly, and we enjoyed the pool. The location was nice. The building was historic and felt elegant. Our breakfast was delicious.

United KingdomThe en-suite bathroom/wet room didn’t work well at all. As the floor wasn’t sloped, it collected water all over it which meant wet feet when going to the toilet or sacrificing the towels to dry it.
The building is stunning. Original parquet floors, tasteful decor and beautiful windows. The bed was large and comfortable and the apartments were well laid out.

United KingdomBar area. The step in and out of the bathroom. My wife tripped on this and fell into the sink unit, banging her arm quite badly. No warning notice and from what I can see, the step is of no use nor purpose, it just does need to be there.
The location. The transformation of the building. The history. The modern fell with all the elegance of the age of the property.

United KingdomThe small room for breakfast was a bit soulless. And the breakfast arrangements were very prescriptive. There were juices in a cooler in the room and we were firmly told we couldn’t help ourselves! We had pre ordered taxis for the following day for a wedding and two didn’t turn up. The reception staff didn’t seem bothered and really weren’t very helpful in attempting to call for another one. (Not everyone has an uber app!)
Wonderful building which has been reconfigured into an excellent hotel

United KingdomNo snacks/drinks in the bar although there is a close convenience store. No breakfast buffet. There was no changing room for male guests at the pool area which was a bit weird.
Went to stay overnight to attend a concert at Tottenham and this location was perfect for us. We got early check in which was really great. Staff was lovely and helpful. Everyone was really nice. You also get a good space and you have a hob, washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave so you can cook if you dont feel like getting takeaways.

United KingdomI booked a Junior Suite but was really disappointed upon arrival - the room looked nothing like the photos online and had an unpleasant musty, outdated smell. I understand that each room is individually designed, but this one simply wasn’t very nice at all. To their credit, the staff were helpful and responded quickly, upgrading me to another room. Unfortunately, even the upgraded room didn’t meet expectations given the price. There were visible scuffs and marks on the walls and furniture, the sofa had some questionable stains, and the bed was very uncomfortable - you could feel the mattress springs through the sheet. While I understand these issues aren’t the fault of the staff, being asked to pay an additional 5% service charge on top of it all did feel a little cheeky.
The staff resolved my issue with the room and upgraded my room, which was appreciated. They were very friendly.

United KingdomNot a lot of external light coming through as we were on the lower ground level. We were out most of the day so it didn't bother us too much, but may be a detractor for some
We had a junior suite, which was much more spacious than expected! Air conditioning is good, bed was also very comfortable. We didn't use the kitchen facilities but the kitchen looked well-stocked with utensils. Lots of good coffee and food options nearby and a short walk to Bethnal Green underground station

United StatesThe room was spacious and stylish, and the building itself is gorgeous and tastefully appointed. The staff were very friendly and kind. The pool feature makes this very unique. Close to Victoria Park for fabulous London mornings, and the best that Hackney has to offer.

United KingdomThe shower was a bit tricky to use. One of the taps was difficult to turn so adjusting the water temperature wasn’t easy and it dripped if the tap wasn’t fully turned off which again was tricky.

New ZealandWe loved the old building with plenty of character & the room , had a full kitchen with coffee machine & room was very spacious for London , we couldn’t use the Air Con as there was buzzing noise so had windows open , this wouldn’t matter unless you were there during a heat wave , check if your stay includes a weekend night as there could be a wedding with DJ & Band which was tricky for us after a 40 hour trip door to door from New Zealand
