Coffee from a flask. Would’ve liked better. Not that hot. The downie was winter-weight so much too warm for the summer. Bed very soft possible due to mattress topper. Evening main course was definitely not worth the money- £20 - see below

Good vegetarian choice of breakfast. Poor choice in the evening. My vegetable chilli was a tin of tomatoes, rice and a few onions. A very few kidney beans and that was it.

A small fridge in the bedroom would have been appreciated. The water in the bathroom was very, very hot and although there is a warning sticker, it would be easy for maybe a child or someone partially sighted to make an error and suffer a scalding injury. Unfortunately on one morning, there was no hot water at all, although we were adequately compensated on check-out. There is no air conditioning and so we had the windows open - the room was immediately above the main entrance and other residents would congregate to smoke on the area outside the front door which then wafted into the room. Also, their voices carried and it was annoyingly quite noisy. Finally, there is no lift to the upper floor, so if you have a lot of luggage or mobility issues, you should make that clear when you book.

Location was good for us and the hotel setting is very nice. Buildings are well kept with period features retained. Car park is large and easily accessed. The room was spacious and clean with a nice double aspect and good views. Bathroom was well appointed with very hot water. Bar facilities were good and although we didn't eat at lunch or dinner, the buffet breakfast was very good.

Attending for a wedding reception and were told in multiple occasions by different staff to move to a different location within the hotel as we were waiting. The function room bar ran out of many different drinks that our table were requesting. The bathrooms in the function part could be doing with a refurb as they are quite dated.

Rooms were nicely decorated and looked as though has been recently refurbished. Bathroom was nice and the shower was good with both the rainfall shower head and normal shower. The hotel is in a Lovely location. We attended a wedding reception and the function room was nice.

Small room, although that's not a real problem. It just looked a bit tired round the edges. The corridors were very scuffed and marked, the paintwork looked old and faded. I suspect it's in the process of going through some upgrades, but for the time being, I think it's a bit over priced.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The little shower room was newly refurbished and very nice. Good pillows. Lovely view.

Menu and food thought it was a huge negative they need to sort and sorce a proper chef not a heater upper and clearly with very basic skills. With a good home made menu not everything bought in it could benefit the hotel hugely. Food was not good.
