Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

I can’t praise this place and the lovely couple who run it enough. Jane and Mark were super friendly and had all the information about the local area we wanted. The Location is also ideal for either going to the Lake or going into town. Me and my 13 year old had a great stay.

One of the major bonuses was the free access to Choices health. As a parent traveling with a child, it added an option of a swimming pool to add to our activity list, and for no extra cost. Mark and Jane were very friendly, without being overbearing :) The location was great to, and I couldn't fault the accomodation

We had a lovely stay. Perfect location and free parking on the street was a great bonus. Jane was extremely nice and friendly. The cottage is set in a beautiful location with a lovely garden and just a short walk from the centre of Cartmel. The property is exceptionally clean, very well maintained and equipped. The beds are super comfortable and I'd highly recommend the cottage.

Directly off the Main Street but very quiet, lots of parking on the road and a few spaces behind the house. Nice cosy room. Having access to the health club was a massive bonus which we used a couple of times.

We loved our stay. Our room was spacious and very clean, and the bed was nice and comfortable. Breakfast was very good as well. Both Jane and Mark are excellent hosts, plus the property is perfectly located between Windermere and Bowness. We will definitely be booking another stay here.

The room was a bit on the small side for a twin but other than that everything else was great

My sisters and I had a lovely stay at Thornbank House. The place was spotless, the breakfast was always fresh and delicious, and the hosts were so warm and welcoming. It’s in a great location too—just a short walk from the lakes and perfect for exploring the area. We had such a relaxing time and would definitely stay again. Highly recommend!

Jane & Mark were exceptionally welcoming, providing really useful advice on the local attractions & even supplying a needle & thread to replace a lost button. When I accidentally took my room keys with me on checkout, they didn’t make a fuss & kindly allowed us to post them back.

Absolutely perfect stay! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and made to feel right at home.
