Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel is a little tired looking and could do with an update. The lift when it works only holds 2 people. There is a spiral staircase that some may find difficult to climb. Breakfast was not provided.
The location is great, especially for events in Hyde Park. The bed and room were clean and tidy. The room was spacious, although elements were a little tired looking. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room which is always a bonus.

United KingdomHotel needs some TLC there was peeling paint, cracks in ceiling, lamp loose on the wall, shower dial missing the front cap, toilet wobbled when sat on - all little things that made the appearance not great!

United KingdomStaff - I made an error in my booking which was "non refundable" - however staff bent over backwards and corrected dates for me - forever grateful! Location - could not get any better - 2mins walk to Hyde Park! Rooms - well - after reading the reviews (after I had booked) - was terrified of going - however, upon arrival - I quickly realised that the hotel is old - it hasn't really been updated - therefore it's small and dark my bedroom and bathroom were clean - just not brand spanking sparkling new. You get what you pay for.

LatviaIt was unbelievably dirty! The walls and the carpet were covered with loads of stains of unknown origin! The supposedly white curtains in the bathroom weren’t washed for decade as minimum and now were dark grey with blood stains from the dead mosquito, which was still glued on them! The mugs on the table had some stains as well. I assume no one checks them after the guests leave. Even the bathtub was dirty with flock of hair left in the drain from previous visitors. The room was a total disrespect towards the people who stay there! I was disgusted to stay there.
The only good thing about this is place is the location. Even though it is not far from Oxford street and Hyde Park, the noise was not heard.

United KingdomRoom in need of some TLC, ceiling fan didn’t work, towel rail hanging off, toilet seat was broken. Had tea making facilities but no socket, had to move kettle across other side of room and stand in on the floor. Cleanliness needs improving, beds were clean but window chill and skirting boards don’t get cleaned.
Location was perfect for Hyde park.

United KingdomThe property and decor is very dated, there are very few facilities, the bed was uncomfortable but most disappointing was the lack of cleanliness. Our basement room had multiple cobwebs on the ceiling and the radiator under the window had months, if not years, worth of dust and cobwebs within it.
The ladies on reception were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal and was perfect for our needs. The linen used on the bed also seemed very clean.

United KingdomSadly the whole place is badly in need of basic upkeep. I ca understand that the hotel is priced accordingly and that it might be struggling a little financially, but really, there is no excuse for lack of cleaning. The walls and carpets (I didn’t think hotels had carpets any more) are marked and clearly not well vacuumed, if at all. The plumbing was touch-and-go. The room we were first sent too had a dank smell. Luckily we were moved to another room. Oh, and the doors are secured with one flimsy Yale lock, and grubby to boot. It wasn’t the cheeriest experience.
Good location and a once lovely old home. Depending on how close to the entry level your room is, the more spacious it will be. Reception staff were very pleasant and accomodating.

United KingdomI booked very last minute as in a couple of hours before check in due to issues with original booking for a different property , otherwise I would not have picked it. Very tired and basic basement room, smelled a bit damp but bedding and towels were fresh and clean. TV didn’t work.
Great location at Marble Arch , 5 minutes walk to Oxford Street and Hyde Park. Large room with double bed and two singles. Friendly reception staff.

United KingdomBuilding was probably beautiful.in its day but its clearly had a long run and in need of a refurb. Flaky paint and tired fixtures and fittings gave a generally drab feel to the room.
