The Wi-Fi did not work in my room, and the staff told me “they’d been having problems for the last two or three weeks” - so why not get it fixed? The booking website specifically states “free Wi-Fi in rooms”. But when I asked, and suggested, say, a free breakfast in compensation (which would actually cost the hotel very little) the manager declined, and I was told that Wi-Fi is not included in the room price. A public relations own goal.

Comfortable, clean, well located. Sense of history.

the decor needed a freshen up. holes in the wall had tissue jammed in them instead of being filled and painted. the sign outside the window screeched all night in the wind. the breakfast service in the morning was unbelievably poor. other guests left without having the meal they had paid for as it took so long. we only just got out in time for check out as it took over 45 minutes for the breakfast to arrive.

room was spacious, the building was beautiful, steeped in history. located in the centre of the city and only a short walk to the beautiful revamped docks. good food just a long wait to get it. the build your own breakfast is a fabulous idea.

I stayed on a Monday night. The bar in the hotel was a little deserted which was a shame, but I suppose many bars are on Mondays.

My room was on the first floor overlooking Northgate. There were crowds of shoppers and a few noisy people walking past during the day, but it was still enjoyable to people watch as they wandered by. At night, the street was deserted. The hotel is in the middle of Gloucester and well placed for the Cathedral and other historical sites. The hotel itself is a galleried coaching inn and is a truly splendid building in tis own right. I stayed in Gloucester for the one night. I went sighting-seeing during my frirst day there and on the second day caught a bus (40 minutes) to Cheltenham for another day's sight-seeing there before returning home.

Too noisy woke up a few times by drunk people and the shower was either far too hot or too cold

The property was lovely and right in the centre and rooms were good value for money. Staff were lovely and very friendly.

Volume of music (including music put on after midnight only for the benefit of the staff who were tidying up). I had intended to eat in the hotel but it would have been impossible to have a quiet conversation with fellow guests.

Room was quiet, though fellow guests were unable to sleep as they were facing either the street or the courtyard

Recently taken over and this grade 1 listed building is needing some TLC it's 600 year old and well worn, clean and tidy but don't expect a palace.

Excellent location, friendly staff, good food. Historical Building. Clean and tidy room with a huge bathroom.

Grubby around the window, restricted gap only at the base for air. Damaged wall fitting hanging which I reported. I was fed up with the loudish music from the bar all the time.

The room was fine is a tad run down. Breakfast was very good both days. Excellent location for me. Good sized bathroom and not a tiny room.

The building and accommodation were as expected, bearing in mind the age and nature of the building, but I was expecting the pub to serve hand-pulled real ale; alas it was all lager and a top-pressure ale.

Quirky, very historic pub. The accommodation and limited facilities reflect the age of this listed building. The staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Initially I feared the car parking situation, but it turned out to be easy and convenient, if a little expensive (although it wouldn't have been had I left by 08.00!). The location is excellent, right in the middle of Gloucester.

Step just inside room doorway could cause a problem Ended up getting locked out of the hotel as the courtyard gates were locked after 11pm and we had to find the manager to let us in at around 11.45pm. The description of the accommodation said that there was no curfew but that turned out to be incorrect

Very helpful staff The wonky floors and walls of our room all added to the overall character of the house Room was clean and quite large The bed was comfortable

    Can't think of anything

Wonderful historic building with nice rooms. Access to rooms is via stairs in courtyard, so might not be the best if you have mobility issues. Bar is an old & historic room, but comfortable. Surprisingly the beer selection, although large, was quite modern/standard - it looked like it should have real ales, but that might be my bias.
