Room was very small and overlooked the wall of a building a few metres away. Corridors were smelling a bit of disinfectant. Room small and not much room to move around. Toilet flush handle collapsed when used. no hot water for shower because a pipe had burst

hotel felt safe and friendly and in a very central location. Staff were lovely. Able to leave my luggage for the day

Tipping arrangements are just wrong ! Automatic 4% on drinks & 8 % on food - removed if requested ! Not a great feeling of being “ pushed “ into tipping - why ? Are staff not paid enough - as a standard wage ?!

Without Sam the place would have been standard. Above average service & attention for check-in to check-out. Some of the others could learn from her. Comfy bedding. Comfortable room. 20% food discount a bonus !

The stairwell looked more like a service/staff area and wasn't really in keeping with the age/style of the building or the decor in other areas - just a small point though and didn't affect our say at all.

The hotel is in a great location and the room had everything we needed.

Breakfast too expensive - better go to one of the cafés nearby offering breakfast for between £ 11-14. Room was quite small but clean. If you need to go to the toilet, do this in your en-suite. The toilets down in the bar/restaurant are quite filthy, we made this experience at 11 in the morning. All in all the rates are too expensive for what you get.

Rooms are themed with Scottish celebrities, we had the Amy MacDonald room. Room was clean overall but a bit small. Anyway the hotel is located right in the heart of Edinburgh so best location to expore the city.

It was not something I didn't like, but the service was a wee bit slow, no one at the check-in desk, and we waited a while for someone to arrive, when they did arrivethey were very pleasant. We ate at the bar restaurant, and staff were polite but not very knowledgeable or speedy. There's nothing wrong with that, just room for improvement.

The hotel was beautifully decorated with the rooms named after Scottish actors. We had Gerard Butler watch over us, a fun twist. A mini bar is provided for convenience. The bed was large and comfortable. There was a Dyson fan in the room for the warmer nights. Huge windows looking out to the Westend streets. Perfect location for some of the best restaurants and shops in town and walkable from both train stations. Late check out was provided too.

Earlier check-in would have been useful, though bag storage was offered. Room a bit small but central Edinburgh is always going to be a squeeze.

Location is ok for both Haymarket and Waverley stations, being half-way between them. Good for the excellent trams to the airport .

Breakfast in the room was fab but there was no table or trolly to eat it from so we had to use the bed, which was okay but a trolley or a fold down table would have been better.

Great location, lovely themed room, staff were happy to cater for our requests as it was a special celebration.

This is not so much things that we did not like, just niggles…. Room gets very hot but there is a Dyson fan that helps. Fridge is packed full of drinks to purchase, no room to store your own stuff. Draw space - lack off Lack of hooks, may not seem like a big deal but there is no where to hang anything! You end up with coats draped over the chair! The bed, be warned, the mattress topper is bigger than the bed, when you sit on the edge, you will fall off. That said, we slept well and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast! The cooked breakfast included in our room rate was not great but the porridge with honey and berry compote made up for it.

We visited Edinburgh at the end of May. Staff were friendly and attentive. We received an anniversary card and some prosecco with our meal - lovely gesture. We stayed in the Shirley Manson room. Each room is named after a Scottish celebrity. Hotel is clean but a little worn around the edges. Excellent shower, rainfall style and very powerful. Restaurant has limited choice but food was to a very good standard, hotel residents get 20% discount off food. Bar setting was nice, a bit different. Quite expensive but it is a hotel. The honey roasted Carrots are a must!
