How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The bed was uncomfortable. The stairs up to the room were steep and narrow.
The sea view, the toiletries and the tea and coffee making facilities were all good.

It is a little small. Ok for 1 person though.

The room was rather small and there was no air conditioning - although just leaving the windows open worked out well. Would have been nice if there were adapters for the electrical sockets.
The room was really pretty & it‘s very close to the beach, as well as at a short walking distance from the city centre.

There was no shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom although soap and lotion was provided. The only sink in the room was too small to fill up the kettle or water bottles etc. Since our stay was 2 nights, it would have been nice for housekeeping to give us fresh cups for coffee. We were told housekeeping would bring us shampoo but they never visited or cleaned our room mid-stay. No extra towels or linens in the closet as was described in the property's manual. Our room had a private patio but it had clearly not been cleaned in a very long time. The patio floor was dirty with dirts and plant trimmings and cigarettes butts.
Room was clean and transport was convenient. Close to the coast.

We stayed for one night in the White House and it was very easy accessible through clear instructions prior to arrival. The rooms were small but very comfortable and clean. We were very happy about the coffee and tea and also appreciated the biscuits and little chocolates.

Shower pressure was very low. Also carpet in hall areas was thread bare in places. Need a new one.
Great location in kemp town for pride. Nice room and quiet on top floor. Good value.

We did not receive the entry code before arrival , then there are problems contacting the proprietor as the phone number on the website and in emails is not recognised persistent attempts lead to contact , this would appear to be a a problem as other guests arriving on the day had the same experience . The Television set up is a hassle and we watched on a laptop to avoid paying for Netflix . The garden area needs to be tidied the patio is dirty and needs to be swept and debris removed etc
The White House is conveniently located to the Palace Pier and other attractions

Shared toilet was super small, almost clostraphobic for me.
Seaview. Super clean. Newly refurbished and everything new( towels, linen etc), nice toiletries.

Nothing to dislike although a warning for anyone reading this review is that the many steep stairs could be an issue for the elderly.

Shower was very weak and loads of water pooled at the bottom. Latch on the window was broken so some noise travelled in at night

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My only quibble would be that the television is a bit dated in that there are limited channels, some of which pixelate

the only reason I gave a 9 score was because on my first morning I was unable to get the hot water to work in the shower, despite knowing how the controls normally work. this was at about 8.30 am on the 11th May
communication was easy .the cleaning staff were very helpful in putting my luggage bag in my room after it was cleaned

Water pressure was low in shower. Bathroom door was hard to open. Bathroom window wouldn't close. No staff seen anywhere. No dvd player as was mentioned in the bio.
Location, comfy bed, cozy sized room. Very clean.
