A pornographic picture of two naked women in the bedroom - totally inappropriate Staff were surly and didn’t try to engage with us. Such poor customer relationship. No one asked how the stay was.

The cold water on the bath did not work so we could not have a shower, i had to have a bath and fill up the kettle a few times and use the cold water from the sink and put into the bath otherwise too hot. Perhaps i should not have upgraded my room.

Lovely hotel, the breakfast was good.

. shabby but fairly clean. Could certainly do with some TLC especially in the bedroom.. no light above the handfasting, water stains on ceiling. Bath mat threadbare. Bath panel in need of repla event or refurbish. Hasled to finish breakfast on our first day before 9.am, yet no problem for us or other guests the following day, we'll after 9 am. Tea lukewarm both days.

Most of the staff were kind and helpful. Good to have a free car park.

The noise from the bar was absolutely awful on the Friday and Saturday night. Impossible to sleep until 11.30pm in the Friday and -12.30am on the Saturday night/Sunday morning. My bedroom , number 7, was stiflingly hot as the boiler was in the room next to it. I couldn’t open the bedroom window , it made trying to sleep very difficult .

Breakfast was good, towels fluffy, plenty of space in the bedroom and shower room. Staff were friendly .

On checking the room on leaving i looked under the bed and wished I hadn't as there was lots of debris and dust underneath including a crisp packet. The rooms are dated but this was reflected in the star rating. We would stay here again

Staff were super friendly and the room was spacious. The breakfast was tasty

The staff were lovely and welcoming, they kindly let us check in early and drop off our bags. The room was clean and well-organised, the breakfast was great, and the pub had a beautiful atmosphere.

It's a little tired, decor wise. It was really hot and the windows wouldn't open. Having to pre order breakfast the night before wasn't great.

The hotel is a lovely old building, filled with quirky art and antiques. The menu is fairly traditional, but the meals were good.

Our rooms were very hot and the running water was not. After a full day of hiking I had hoped to enjoy a hot bath but could only get it to luke warm. Also, ths artwork was a little interesting/suggestive which wasn't really to our tastes, but the place certainly had character!

Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was great. The rooms were nice and spacious and beds were comfortable. Overall, really enjoyed our stay.

Because of the sloping floor, one of the twin beds was at a very unpleasant angle for the night. Why don't you put something under the legs to make it a horizontal surface? I slept very badly. Both beds were incredibly wobbly, it made one feel almost seasick to turn over. The window of the room couldn't be opened, only the bathroom window. But that had a very noisy aircon machine for some other room right in front of it, which also stopped us sleeping. Breakfast was very basic, no yoghurt, no fruit.

We like the big old rooms. The towels were very nice. Staff were cheerful and helpful. The problems lie with management or ownership.

To be honest, not a lot to criticise. It is a two star establishment establishment after all and for that, it really is pretty grand, especially for the price.
