How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Covered in bites myself and my child were upon leaving, the rooms we so hot but only one Fan in a family room. Had the windows open during the evening/night. No info on keeping the windows shut due to bugs in room 204. So bites are from bugs however some concern me that they could be bed bugs due to the pattern and the redness.

The mattress on my first night really hurt my back - Could feel the springs when lying down - Did not het a good nights sleep - Reported it and had a different room for second night and slept much better.
Facilities were amazing - Breakfast was delicious - Convenient location - Excellent value for money.

Nothing really because we only stayed one night.
It was very quiet and the bed comfortable. The shower was excellent.The location suited us well and was good value for the price we paid.

We had to lift bags to second floor via stairs, as the property doesn’t have elevators.

At breakfast the scrambled eggs from the hotplate were actually cold. I thought elements of dinner on the night I arrived were a bit overpriced. For example: a side dish of garlic bread cost £3.50, but consisted of three slices only. The dessert course, a cheesecake, was a bit inferior for the money. The main course was fine - no complaint there. I understand the difficulties of running a restaurant for dinner when the number of patrons is low, and I appreciated that the restaurant was open so that I did not need to go out for a meal.
It was my second stay at this hotel, and I knew what to expect from my previous visit. Apart from staff changes and a change in the breakfast room arrangements, things were much the same as before. It was good that they were running a "promotion" so that the usual £5 parking charge was waived. Should not that become the norm? Because of the hotel's location, probably all guests arrive in vehicles. It is a large building and quiet, which I like. My room was large with the usual facilities. The bed was very comfortable.

Creaking floorboards from above means an early start is mandatory.
My Dad’s photo from 1949 is still on the wall when this place was his school. Breakfast was also good.

The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, we went and brought some more from tesco. The rest of the bed was comfortable and everything was clean though. The radiator in the room wouldn't turn down either.
The room was very clean and spacious, and had everything we needed in it. The location was really useful for us too.

The WiFi was very bad, you can connect but it's just not very good. When booking we asked for rooms close together as we are family needing two rooms, upon check in they said there were not enough rooms to accommodate this so we were on different floors! However the hotel was extremely quiet and we hardly saw any other guests so I'm not sure that really was a reason - more likely an oversight.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was nice and quiet - really nice bar and excellent food.
