Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesIts new owner is in the process of making renovations and upgrades which will add to the pub-bed & breakfast experience, but it’s not done yet. So if you don’t have a vision for the future and just want everything completed today, you might find something to complain about. It didn’t bother us.
The Swan Inn has a lot of charm. Our stay was a wonderful experience. Love the window in our room which had arched multi panel windows overlooking the beautiful flower baskets hanging out front.

New ZealandTowels weren't replaced for the entire time we were there (although I probably could have requested more) and there was nowhere really to hang them to dry. Shower could do with an extra clean around the base.
Friendly, helpful staff and great location. Able to easily visit other villages on the local bus. Other attractions within walking distance. A great breakfast included, provided by the café across the street.

United StatesVery little extra space in the room for luggage. The timer on the bathroom light was a negative.
Helpful and friendly staff and excellent location for our needs. The oscillating fan was greatly appreciated.

United KingdomI don't think we had fully realised that breakfast was a voucher system that you could use in the cafe across the road. It was very nice but again, the amount of food on offer was limited compared with what you usually expect when you pay for bed and breakfast. The food we had was very nice but if you wanted more than one thing, you must pay.
The location was great. Friendly staff and clean, comfortable rooms. We ate there too and although the choice was fairly limited, the food we had was really good.

United KingdomYou had to cross a busy road to get breakfast from a cafe. We sat at a dirty table and were told it was a 45 minute wait.
The room was large and comfortable with plenty of space for clothes to be stored. The location was perfect and it was good value for money.

AustraliaAlthough the breakfast at the cafe were good, it wasn't as convenient or good as having breakfast at the hotel. I had been there before and the breakfast at the hotel then was excellent.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Simon organised an Uber for us to get to the Falconry centre. He also helped me with vegetarian food for dinner. The bed was quite comfortable and the shower excellent.

GermanyThe room I slept in smelt a little bit damp, I believe it was going to get seen to though. My window faced the roundabout, so with the window open (hot summer day) you could hear the traffic.
The Swan Inn is a small boutique hotel with about 8 rooms and a fantastic host (Simon and his team). Simon is super helpful a great person to meet and you feel like part of the family! When I was there you went for breakfast accross the road to a lovely café where you could select your breakfast dish (for example either granola or scrambled egg on toast or toast and jam + 1 hot drink). I read in one of the reviews that someone commented on the room (wallpaper not perfect) - for me the place has a great atmosphere, it doesn't need to be perfect.

Located in the centre of Moreton-in-Marsh with plenty of nearby parking. Comfortable accommodation. A breakfast voucher to use at an excellent café across the road.

United KingdomBreakfast is served in a cafe across the road. Get there early, or the tourists will get there first. I was too late on the first morning and there was a 40 min wait for hot food. So I gave it a miss. I'll book room only next time. I thought it would be a quiet village, but the road next to the hotel is very busy, and the lorries made the bed shake! Didn't disturb my sleep though. 😊
The staff were friendly and helpful. Especially Simon! The bed was super comfy too. You get a code for the back door in case you get back late. Don't leave it in your room and forget it, like I did! Nice, characterful hotel, with lovely, friendly host.

New ZealandThe room was rather warm in the extremely hot weather, though the small fan helped a little.
Traditional inn with friendly and helpful staff; the proprietor Simon greeted us on arrival and made us feel very welcome, and he was there most days to say hello. We enjoyed the super luxurious towels and great shower. There was a charming back garden where we sat to relax in the evening. Breakfasts at the cafe across the road were hearty and filling. Location was handy to the train station, eating places and three supermarkets.

United KingdomThe Swan Inn made a perfect base for a week exploring the Cotswolds. It's in a great central location in Moreton in Marsh with easy parking. I had a lovely room with a large en suite with a good powerful shower. Despite the rather warm weather during my holiday the room stayed a reasonable temperature and the soundproofing on the window meant that, even though my room was on the road side of the building, the traffic noise was not a problem. Breakfasts at the local Lynwood cafe were delicious with a nice range of options on the menu. Simon and his staff were really friendly and welcoming and I couldn't have asked for a nicer stay.
