How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

A v minor quibble was that my wardrobe was a difficult to open cupboard, though not that much of an issue - I barely used it.
The pub/restaurant part is very attractive. I didn't eat there but had a glass of wine in the bar when I returned from dinner with friends. The staff I met were very pleasant and helpful. My room was comfortable and had everything one might need for a night's stay - plenty of fluffy towels etc. Breakfast was very good.

Great place for our one night stay. En-suite Room was very good. Everything very clean and fresh. Staff were great as was the steak dinner we had there in the evening and the breakfast before we left. No complaints. I’m sure we will be back if we are passing by again.

Cons: The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night two out of the four nights. No apology or acknowlegment of the inconvenience. The staff were very friendly but some were quite junior and not very knowledgeable i.e. unable to give advice on good walks or really say much about the local area other than recommend the Mulberry for dinner (which was good) - some training needed. The 2 for 1 burger deal was OK -burgers a bit overcooked and bread was soggy with the amount of sauce/liquid/slaw which should have been on the side. Just a heads up that the parking is a bit of a nightmare - there's a large enough space opposite the pub but it's super dangerous coming out of there as vehicles come down the hill too fast.
Pros: Lovely kind staff, really excellent breakfast, clean, comfortable rooms, good location. Pleased to be charged just £20 for the zed bed for my son. Cleaning very well done. Air con worked well.

The payment system for the room was rigid disallowing for split bills when additional room was booked for a friend.
The staff were friendly, room comfortable and breakfast plentiful.

Quite expensive for one night.
Beautiful decor, lovely staff! The breakfast was very tasty sourced from local farms. We went to a wedding so dropped our bags off at 11am and as we were too early for check in they gave me the key and explained how to get to our room when we arrive later and took our bags up to our room ready for arrival.

Take care on the road between the pub and car park opposite. Can be very busy.
Rooms were well equipped, clean and comfortable. Ample parking and delicious breakfast. Very friendly and efficient staff. Would most definitely stay there again. Stayed a second night two days later and everything was just as good. Also had a delicious Sunday lunch.

Not easy crossing the busy main road safely from the car park to the hotel.
Good location in a pleasant village. Tastefully decorated and furnished throughout. Staff very friendly, especially the greeting on arrival. Especially accommodating, when allowing us to use the room early in order to change before attending a local wedding. Breakfast was well presented and the hot meal very tasty.

Garden not as renovated as inside.i
Very good stay, nice evening meal with excellent steak, dry aged. Very nice female jazz singer improved the experience furthur! Breakfast was also relaxed with jazzy soundtrack creating laid back chill mood. Room was elevated by tastefull decor and Nespresso, with very good walk in shower and expensive toiletteries. Small touches which go a long way! Chiddingfold is beautiful village which also helps for a beautiful weekend break. Well done the Swan!
