Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSmall things really, I think the listing mentioned a BBQ but I didn't see one, the shower cubicle is tiny and the towels could be bigger, but the water pressure is excellent. It would be better if the switches for the stairs could be operated from both floors. The main thing that bothered me was I wasn't aware that the dog was not allowed upstairs before booking and as he is not accustomed to sleeping alone that had to be managed to stop him crying. There is a stair gate provided to prevent pets going upstairs for when they are left alone at bedtime or when going out.
The accommodation was comfortable, it had a nice private entrance. Even though it is only designed for 2 it had plenty of seating options. There was milk, coffee and other essentials for cooking and washing in the kitchen, including some washing machine tablets and oil, salt, pepper, even pasta sauce. The area was quiet with some lovely woodland walk within minutes of the place. The owner was friendly and helpful. There is info on the local area provided as well as some dvds, puzzles and books in the TV cabinet.

United KingdomFirstly, the location was great, our host, Colin, met us on arrival and told us about the cafe and pub within walking distance. Ample parking for the car, could see the car from accommodation and the site felt very safe. House was clean and had a very comfortable bed. Also, lovely and warm. Host was lovely, showed us around and answered any questions then left us to it. The hot tub was a great addition, it's covered and lit with cute fairy lights and there's a booking system on the door, chalk board where you put what times you would like to use it. Kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need utensils wise, fresh milk in the fridge too on arrival which was great. Loved that the site was dog friendly, great size gated garden even for a border collie, we sat outside on the bench for breakfast in the morning, that was lovely. I would stay here again!

United KingdomWe felt that our expectations of the place had to be adjusted quite a bit when we arrived. The accommodation looked alot bigger in the pictures, the sofa was really uncomfortable as all the spring had gone and also the online advertising chose the words hot tub available rather than shared hot tub. The roof to the hot tub area was also only partial and it was very tatty. The picture of the building made it look like The Stables was the whole building, but we learnt on arrival that we had to enter round the side and the bit we were staying in was only 1 small section of the building. Initially, I was very disappointed, but we looked at it on it's merits and enjoyed our stay.
We liked the host who was organised and friendly. The accommodation was warm .The hot tub worked well. WiFi was good and the cooking facilities were good. Generally a quiet location. There were a few staples like tea and coffee etc in the cupboards and the host had thoughtfully left some milk in the fridge for us.

United KingdomThe sofa was a little small and somewhat uncomfortable. Could have done with a few more plates and cups to save washing up after each meal. Not at all Colin and Ruth's fault but the cockrell was rather loud in the morning.
Colin and Ruth were very welcoming. The cottage had its own gated garden which was perfect for our pup. The hot tub was lovely and clean and the shared booking system was really simple. The cottage was perfectly located at the edge of the forest of Dean, with some amazing walks. There is a wealth of information available about the local attractions in the cottage which was great. The kitchen was nicely stocked with a few essentials, like tea, coffee, sugar and milk. Colin and Ruth were on hand if we needed anything or had questions to ask. There was a cooperative shop within easy walking distance from the cottage and a friendly pub a little further into the village as well as a coffee shop and pharmacy.

United KingdomThe living room window and garden space was perhaps a little overlooked by the neighbouring accommodation. Our dog was able to see the neighbours dog through the fence which left it a little unsettled at first.
This was a nice little self-catered property to stay in and it met all our needs for a good price.
