Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf you’re looking for somewhere truly special, this is it. This isn’t just a guesthouse, it’s a place that will stay in your heart long after you leave. Liz and Billy are exceptional hosts , so genuine, kind, and completely dedicated to making your stay perfect. They put so much love and care into every detail of The Shore House, and it really shines through in everything they do. The setting is breathtaking, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the hospitality is second to none. We feel incredibly lucky to have discovered this little gem. It’s more than just a place to stay, it’s a beautiful experience we’ll never forget♥️ And of course not forgetting Watson 🐶 . He’s an absolute sweetheart who loves a fuss and adds even more charm to the place. Just having him around makes it feel even more homely.

We liked all aspects of the stay at the Shore House: the location, in front of the loch, close to Lochgoilhead (5 min walking along Great stay to the loch), very calm; the room, nicely renovated, super cosy with stunning views on the loch; the Scottish breakfast, tasty and giving you the energy for the day; and the owners, present when needed, giving good advices and letting you feel sincerely welcome. On top of this, Lochgoilhead is a cool place, not too crowdy, with nice trails around.

The Shore House is stunning...beautiful rooms and very comfortable beds The views from our breakfast table were gorgeous. The hosts Liz & Billy were very friendly and made us feel welcome. They cook up an excellent Scottish breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed. Only a few minutes walk from the village if you fancy a stroll. We also enjoyed the live music at Shore House over the weekend...excellent singers. We would highly recommend this B&B.

We loved everything! The location and view from our bedroom was truly stunning! The welcome we received from Liz and Billy and the friendly service throughout was truly lovely. Breakfast was excellent and the pizza's were superb. As it was Easter weekend, the bar was busy with a lovely atmosphere and live music. We also had the pleasure of meeting the adorable and well behaved Watson! We are already planning to come back, we would buld our next trip to Scotland around staying here. Liz and Billy are the best B&B hosts I've had in all my travels, and that's saying something! They were incredibly warm, friendly, caring, and attentive. You can tell they truly care that you have a fantastic and relaxing stay. The restaurant view of the loch is priceless! The pizzas are incredible - we literally tried every available option while staying with them, so can say that with confidence. The breakfast is a hefty amount of homecooked food, which was a delicious way to start the day. Feeling so rejuvenated after a long weekend there. Will absolutely aim to return!

United KingdomI can’t think of anything i didn’t like. I would have liked if the woodburner was on to sit next to it in the evening with a drink but weather was unseasonably warm so i understand why it wouldn’t be on!
The location and the views were fantastic The hosts were like old friends and staff helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The house was full of useful and tasteful things eg binoculars, books, paintings etc. Bed and pillows super comfortable and great coffee machine in the room along with extra blanket and heater if required. Breakfast was delicious with a great choice of hot and cold food.

United KingdomThe road to the property could do with the potholes filling in. Unsure who owns the road though. I didn't expect or need room service as we were only staying 2 nights but fresh glasses would have been useful. We did ask for some and did get without any problems.
Lovely welcoming hosts in Billy and Liz. Food for breakfast and pizzas in the evening were excellent. Locally sourced craft ale from Loch Fyne brewery was also well received. Very comfy bed. Will definitely go back.

Everybody looks out for one another and works together to give eachother’s guests a welcome. We rented a boat which was great to see the lake. Had pizza in the Shore House itself and had a good bar meal at the Goil Inn. Beautiful surroundings! Great Wifi! So much to do in the area. You can easily spend a week here! Great breakfast cooked with love and quality products. Nice communal areas to relax outside of your room.
