You then went outside and returned later to check into your room. At that time, you expressed that you were happy with the room — there were no complaints whatsoever. So I honestly don’t understand why you gave such a low score. Our property is clearly described online, and we provide all the basic essentials listed in the description. If anything was missing or not to your liking, you had every opportunity to reach out to us — we’re always available through message or phone. But you never contacted us with any concerns during your stay. If your review is based on real issues, it would have been helpful and respectful to communicate them at the time. Instead, leaving a damaging review without giving us a chance to help feels deeply unfair — especially after you used our facilities and expressed satisfaction in person. We work very hard to maintain our property and ensure guests have a comfortable stay. With regard to the condition of the property, regular maintenance is carried out and we take all reported issues seriously. However, no concerns about peeling paint or wall damage were brought to our attention during your stay, which would have allowed us to address them promptly. Our staff are available throughout the day to assist with any issues, had they been reported. As for the doors and soundproofing, this is a traditional Edinburgh building close to the historic Royal Mile – a prime location that brings with it some structural quirks typical of older properties. While we aim to modernise where appropriate, we are also mindful to preserve the character of the building. That said, all doors are functional, and any difficulties with locks would have been attended to immediately had you raised them during your stay.
