A super friendly pub with nice rooms in a nice location with great staff! Get it booked

The room was great , however under the bed needs a hoovering / dusting (yes i am one off those people who check) compliance is my job! The window needs attention and the sofa needed a deep clean but it was serviceable (just). I will definitely be back this is a great hotel and i will be booking again!

The staff were exceptionally friendly, and the hotel offered free parking. The building itself is charming, featuring a fantastic pub that adds to its character. The bar staff were welcoming and attentive, with one person, Angela, standing out as a true superstar. She quickly noticed I was staying at the hotel, found me a seat, and even helped me choose my food. Once seated, a pint was promptly brought over by a super friendly and efficient staff member, perhaps the manager, who truly shined behind the bar. The bar area is fantastic, a genuine, traditional pub with a warm atmosphere and a positive, can-do attitude from the staff. The food was also very enjoyable, making the whole experience even more memorable. My room was big and very well equipped , iron , ironing board, tv , kettle , large bathroom with a bath and a shower and overall it was cleanish.

The plumbing needs a revamp. You can hear everyone going to the toilet or taking a shower. It's probably a single system.

The chalet room was very comfortable and perfect for our needs.

Meals at night we're not good - fish over cooked and dry, chips not fully cooked so couldn't eat them. Husband had Farmers breakfast with bubble and squeak that was basically only fried potato and not much thought about presentation. Chairs in main resturant area could do with reupholstering as very badly stained. If we stayed again would try to find somewhere to eat elsewhere.

Staff really friendly. Beamish quarter of an hour drive away so extremely convenient. Bed very comfortable. Plenty of parking spaces.

Room we were in definitely needs a bit of tender loving care, windows really grubby with what look like black mould in corners, kept having to ask for more milk and tea bags .

Stayed in the hotel this time instead of outside accommodation, definitely prefer the latter, lovely hotel.

Overhead shower option only - would prefer to have the option of a wall riser rail shower head too. Picnic table outside the rooms encourages people to sit there and be noisy.

Have the restaurant on site was great. The bed was very big. I asked for a quiet room and was located in an end room on a block of 4 at the back of the car park, which was fine the first night. On the second night the other residents on the same bock decided to have drinks on the picnic table outside of the room after 11pm. My husband had a word but they didn't move so e went to reception and they sorted it. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

A lick of paint here and there wouldn’t have done any harm and it would be lovely to be able to sit down at a mirror to do your hair and make up in every room.

Lovely atmosphere, all the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and a big shout out to Ross and Bailey for their brilliant Customer Service. Nice bar, we spent the afternoon having a couple of drinks and then had a lovely meal in the evening.

    Dinners really ordinary.

Good breakfast, although one day fruit had not arrived !? Dinner not so good - 5/10 on two occasions. Almost all staff very friendly and helpful. One night when the pub was full of diners we asked a lady if we could just glance at the menu and she was brusque/rude. The manageress was delightful and sorted out a confusion in our booking re breakfast.
