This was always a characterfull place in a good location, but this time, unde rnew management, it had been comprehensively and stylishly refurbished both in the public areas and in the room, while keeping in the spirit of the place: it now feels and looks much more luxurious than it used to. Breakfast in the sunny front room (or outside front) is as pleasant as always.

Not much really. The toilet seat was a little wobbly but that’s it.

Firstly the location was excellent. A few minutes walk from Exeter Central, very close the middle of the town centre but set back amongst beautiful Georgian houses away from the main drag. The room was lovely. Very comfortable bed and powerful shower. The bathroom was large and the room had its own sofa. Food was great and the service was lovely. The management were also very accommodating sorting me out with a slightly later check out to fit in with a meeting. Would definitely stay again.

Repair the basin tap! It is so loose it almost comes off. Ditto the toilet seat. Shower over bath. Fine, but no soap at bath level.

Very nice breakfast with lots of choice of fruit and nuts as well. Very useful lift right to the door.

Location was excellent, 10 minutes walk from the city centre and cathedral which is where I was spending each day. I encountered several members of staff during my 2 nights stay (at reception and at breakfast) and they were all without exception super helpful and really nice. They let me have breakfast a bit early on my last morning as I needed to leave early, which was really helpful. Parking was also very easy - I found a spot on the road round the corner and then bought residents' parking permits from reception - £5 a day. Good shower, plentiful hot water, very comfortable bed. Decent size mugs in the room - always a good sign. And delicious warm brownies at reception on Saturday evening.

The nearby church rang early on Sunday morning, and the pub down the street is open until later in the evening - but otherwise the location is residential and peaceful.

Friendly staff, comfortable room, tasty hot breakfast, convenient location, quiet building.

The room was very hot, but they can't be held responsible for the weather. Noisy on Saturday night, with drunks sitting under the window until the early hours of the morning.

Very nice breakfast. Very conveniently situated a short walk from the station and city centre.

I would have liked a king size bed instead a double but the bed was good quality and we slept well.

Location was great, quiet side street but still very central. Exceptional breakfast, so much choice and top quality. Interesting rooms, all furnished in antique but functional furniture, pictures everywhere. Very sympathetically decorated, truly unique. Ed
