Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe lighting in the room was dim in places - near the kettle in particular. The WiFi in the room was very poor. It was better outside and perfect in the bar, but that was only available during open hours.
Brilliant location in the middle of the town. The room was clean and (apart from the WiFi) everything worked well. It was part of an annex with it's own shared outside entrance. TV with Sky Sports was a bonus.

United KingdomIt was very warm and we couldn’t open the windows plus the location wasn’t ideal as it’s right next door to a noisy pub with the outside area being right below our windows.
Friendly people and the rooms were clean & well catered for.

United KingdomThe TV wouldn’t work with Sky that was offered and we couldn’t get the WiFi in the bedroom to connect, the password was incorrect, there were 2 WiFi names the same, one would connect in the pub but not the bedroom one. We did ask at the bar a couple of times, but they were very busy and in the end was told too many people connected.
The room with the four poster and bath was fantastic.

United KingdomDue to cleaners arriving late because there was an accident on road from Manchester (what happens in winter when there's snow on road?) we had a long wait to access the room. We were offered a drink but could some of the staff not started to strip beds etc to hurry things along?
Location was excellent. Breakfast not included in price.

United KingdomBed was a little on the firm side and could feel the springs in your back had to sleep on my side to get comfortable would be much easier to sleep in if it at least had a mattress topper on it to support comfort other issues was toilet seat wasn’t secure and moved side to side, the hot water didn’t work on the bathroom basin another issues found was the smell of cooking grease in the hall way before accessing the room as in lingered only other downfall I have to say was it could of done with been dusted abit better as when you moved the curtains on the window or the decorative pillows on the bed lots of dust appeared and they didn’t smell fresh
Location was perfect to access everything the bar and food was fantastic and how the pub look was appealing friendly locals very peaceful enjoy the environment the pub and its staff bring

United KingdomThere was no Wi-Fi at the property. As I was having difficulty with phone signal , I had to keep going to the boots pharmacy to be able to get internet. As lovely as all the other aspects were, the internet being fixed should be a priority. As the advertisement clearly states that it does offer wifi, and this was certainly not the case when I was staying there. I was also informed by a member of staff that the "peacock wifi" hasn't been active for over a year. I would suggest that the owners make fixing this a top priority as they should not be advertising a service that they do not provide as this is false advertising. Aside from this, the stay was excellent.
The staff members were absolutely lovely from start to finish.

United KingdomWe checked in and we were getting showered when there was a knock at the door. We didn't answer but then the person knocking just entered the room anyway so I had to shout for them to leave. Baffles me why you'd knock then enter regardless. Felt like a massive violation of privacy. The staff member explained they'd given us the wrong room but I don't understand how blindly entering was the solution to that.
The room was fantastic and the pub in general was very nice.

United KingdomEven better if the Peacock was expecting us, and the booking from booking.com had gone through to them accurately. Even better if the WiFi worked from the start as there is very poor mobile signal in Bakewell. Even better if there was tea, milk and toilet roll for a stay longer than 1 night. Even better if sky worked as in the booklet.
Two rooms are perfect for a family stay, with a Jack and Jill bathroom. The rooms temperature was lovely and cool, which is good for a night's sleep. We had a TV in each room so we could watch different things. When we needed the staff, they helped.

IrelandDinner stopped serving at 9PM and there was not options for an earleir breakfast available. Bathroom celing was low down, so hit my head a few times, however, I am taller than most.
Cosy little pub as you arrive, location is right in the centre of the village, with parking available, pub was told to be haunted, but nothing went bump in the night, as bed was too nice not to sleep well.

The peacock is very central to Bakewell town centre, bathroom was very modern which we loved. Beds very comfy & tv had everything you needed. There was lots of shampoo/ conditioner and body wash free to use.

United KingdomParking was a nightmare, we got told that staff get priority over guests to park in the small carpark which would be bigger if they hadn’t filled it with benches, so we had to park a good walk away in a 24 hr carpark , you can park in front of the building but you can only stop 2 hrs in the day but you can park all night for £1 but a early rise as you then need to put parking on at 8am . The issue with the Ben was the mattress it was really hard and spingy
Location was excellent, room was very large with sky tv which was awesome!! Good facilities and bathroom as for the bed !! It was massive!! Just one issue with it
