Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomI had a little trouble finding the place as the postcode didn’t take me to the property, but close enough that a local was able to tell me where to find it.
Full of character, clean & tidy. Comfortable bed, lovely breakfast room, beautifully laid table. Wonderful breakfast

United KingdomI just had a little bit of trouble finding the B&B up the narrow Back lane. The sign could really do with being on the right of the steps as it is easily missed as you go up the lane.
I had the single room which was spotless and very comfortable with a nice view of the garden. Breakfast was very good and Phillip the owner was a lovely, friendly gentleman.

United KingdomEverything was absolutely perfect. The house and garden was beautiful. I stayed in the single room for two evenings. It was lovely and clean and more than enough room. I had a kettle, TV, and fridge and the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast was fantastic. I had the choice of cereal, toast, honey, jam, tea, coffee, orange juice apple juice and the most amazing full english breakfast. Our hosts went out of our way to make us feel welcomed and at home. I was given my own key to come and go as I pleased. I had a wedding on the second day and Philip, the owner was kind enough to take me there and pick me up. I will definitely stay again if I am ever in Shrewsbury. Highly recommended! Thank you Philip and Samantha for your hospitality. I came as a stranger and definitely felt like I left as a friend. Looking forward to seeing you both again 🙂.

United Arab EmiratesNot a criticism of Philip or the B&B, generally, but the Booking.com reservation confirmation only gives a post code, which code covers a large area, so had some trouble locating the place (as did one other guest I spoke with). The place is in Back Lane, about 30 metres along the lane, on the left side, with steps and a slope up to the house. Hope this saves you from driving aimlessly around the village as I did!
Nice and quiet, village setting. Philip (the host/owner) was very friendly and helpful. Good sized room, well equipped. Very good breakfast, cooked fresh to order.

United KingdomUnfortunately the shower broke down so l got to have a nice long bath. Philip did apologise for the inconvenience but l was the lucky one.
The single room had a lovely view over the garden and access to a separate, quite large, bathroom. I was bike packing and on my way through. Philip was very accommodating with storing my bicycle in the shed for the night. He joined me for breakfast (full cooked) in the airy conservatory as l was the only guest that morning.

United KingdomNo hand soap in the bathroom, used the provided shower gel instead. I'm sure if I asked at the time they would have restocked it, but I was only there for one night so it wasn't a problem.

United KingdomIt would have been perfect had I drove. But without a car it's too much of a trek from Shrewsbury: at least ten miles. There were no buses and I couldn't get a taxi, so in the end I had to trouble my friend's mum to drive me there in the dark.
The host was warm and welcoming, and the delicious breakfast was in a beautiful conservatory. The garden outside was immaculate. I was seated on the main dining table with a friendly couple. While the room wasn't en suite, the bathroom was very close by and I was given exclusive access to it during my stay.
