Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe were very impressed & can offer no negative points
The Mill was perfectly placed for our requirements. We were attending a wedding 10 mins away by taxi. The town of Biggar was few mins walk from The Old Mill so ideally located.

Accommodation was very comfortable, warm, spotlessly clean with plenty supplies. Hospitality was exceptional with hosts going above and beyond to accommodate myself and my pets. Central but secluded location, easy to find and next to a park which was very convenient for the dogs. Quiet, private and secure accommodation and ideal for my visit.

United KingdomWe loved everything, nothing not to love xx
Wow what a little gem this place is. The pictures do not do this justice at all. We stayed in the queen suite, exceptionally clean and well presented. Very comfy bed, hot powerful shower, coffee machine with cappuccino pods, hot chocolate, selection of biscuits and everything you could need. The room is separate to everything so you have your own entrance so very private. Breakfast was out of this world, you tell them what you would like and the time and then they cook fresh for you and again exceptional breakfast. The hostess is so lovely, nothing is too much trouble at all. The old mill has some beautiful features and there is plenty of parking and a play park next door for the kids and you can walk into town in 5 minutes. Highly recommend the crown for amazing food. Slept like a dream, the only downside was only booking one night this would be a lovely long stay away. Can't recommend highly enough.

United KingdomI would have liked an electric fan in the room, but only because of the exceptional weather, normally wooly jumpers are needed.
The work needed to rescue this listed building was tremendous, only matched by the lovely hosts and their attention to detail in the rooms provided

United KingdomWe were on the top floor which was very warm on the hottest week in July so we struggled sleeping but any other time would have been fine.
Lovely old mill, quiet location, easy to find and the owner met us to hand over the key. The room was very bright and spacious with lovely ensuite. Breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. The setting of the breakfast room with the wheel is very quirky. Lovely owner.

United KingdomThere is nothing to do with the hotel, but make sure you pre book taxis if going out anywhere due to only being 2 taxi drivers in the area. We didn't know this and had to drive to the wedding but we managed to get a taxi back home and one for the morning to pick the car up.
Gillian, the host, was the most loveliest attentive host I have ever come across. Nothing was too much trouble. She had put a fan in our room as the weather was hot and we were on the top floor. She came down later at night when we arrived to give us some plates for our takeaway coming ( she didn't have to do this) The rooms were massive, and there was plenty of space for a family, never mind the 2 of us. Complementary shampoo conditioner, 2 lots of towels, tea coffee, sugar, hot chocolate. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast, we got to pick what we wanted by ticking a menu the night before, and it came pipping hot. Also she allowed us to have breakfast on the Sunday a little later which was an amazing touch. The views are beautiful and right next to a huge park & stream for the kiddies or if you enjoy walking. Very large full length mirror.
