A detail of cleanliness -The loft hatch in the bathroom ceiling could do to be cleaned. Dirty marks on the paintwork. The shelf above the sink in the bathroom made it difficult to rinse your face without bumping you head.

The welcome at reception was good. The room was comfortable. The breakfast was good but a little dry.

The lighting in the room wasn't great, it was too dark. I also wasn't very keen on the quality of the continental breakfast as there wasn't much choice and pastries were not fresh. Other than this it's cooked breakfast to order

I liked the location of the hotel, within walking distance to the castle and the marketplace. I had a good-sized room with a comfy bed. The food at the restaurant is very reasonably priced and judging by the Sunday roast, portions are very generous.

No air conditioning. The UK hospitality industry has to quickly address the need for reverse cycle air conditioning in hotel rooms. They are too stuffy now and not even able to open windows properly means an uncomfortable all night. The hotel did supply a fan which was great as we had it on all night. Obviously a nod to the new conditions.

We could have a good pub meal for dinner, parking was secure and free. Room size was good and bathroom modern.

Great location for walking into Alnwick and easy to access from the A1. Parking available at the back. Nice outdoor seating area for fine weather. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It was surprisingly quiet even though it overlooked the road junction. We had lunch when we arrived and there was an excellent deal on for a 3 course lunch…and the food was lovely

The bedroom was comfortable but was basic , the room was chilly but unfortunately the weather had suddenly turned cold. The shower over the bath was good but am not a fan of having to get into a bath to have a shower, have had worse though!! I am not keen on being in rooms away from the main building but it was 3 star and did what it said on the can so to speak so for value for money in the area it was more than acceptable

Near to Alnwick Castle and gardens in fact in walking distance. The bar and restaurant was good and the food I chose was good. The staff were excellent

A pigeon dropped something on our car 54 seconds after arrival. But that's all.

When you have to take the ferry in Newcastle and are travelling from Scotland or the north in generalq, this is the perfect stop. A cosy hotel, with a very good cook in the kitchen (for breakfast as well as dinner), a comfortable room (in our case a spacious family room) and three splendid female hosts (sisters?) who divide the work and are all three kind, to the point, attentive but not tiresome overfriendly as in some other places. Just as it should be.

    Nothing springs to mind.

The Oaks was a perfect location with the bookshop and town only a short stroll away.Very friendly staff, and a well presented and clean family room, perfect for a good night's sleep before the 6 hour drive home. We didn't eat in the hotel that evening due to prior arrangements but can say that the breakfast was excellent. Thank you and hope to see you again.

Breakfast window from 0700 to 0900 a bit early, but got us up. A bit more bathroom shelf space would be good, grab handles for getting in and out of bath would help.

Friendly staff, nice room opening out onto the patio area, not a corridor, which was unusual. Location in Alnwick was good for the Gardens, Barter Books, and further away, Holy Island, Bamburgh and Seahouses, don't miss a boat trip to the Farne Islands.
