Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBeing very picky - the shower was like a locker room shower, in that, you had to press the button every ten seconds to keep the water going. Not a huge issue, I just have long hair so it took a while to wash it!
Very central location, lovely helpful staff and was able to check-in very late. Room was lovely and clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was a little outdated with a few cracks and bumps but this was just due to the building being so old (200+ years). All in all, for the price, I would recommend staying here if you're looking for a one or two night stop over in MCR.

CanadaA little worried about the crooked, sloping and bumpy floors. There should be something lto let guests know the reason for this and a guarantee that it is safe.
Hotel staff were pleasant and helpful. Location was excellent. Relatively clean. Lots of character to the building. Close to Manchester Victoria train station. Beds were fine. Located in the old part of Manchester, which has a lot of history.

ItalyA lot of stairs to the hotel. Had to ask pub staff how to enter the hotel and we had to traipse through the pub to the hotel.
Included breakfast was amazing. Beds were comfortable. Shared bathroom was very clean.

DenmarkMy room was overlooking a small square with cafes/ bars so it was quite noisy even with the windows closed. The room was dirty in that it had a layer of dust on the paneling and old trash behind the bed. The carpet everywhere looked very dirty, and I didn’t go anywhere without my shoes on - not even from the bed to the bedroom. The room only had two electrical outlets and they were located by the floor between a window and a radiator - so I spent most of my time sitting on the floor on a plaid when trying to charge my phone at night, while simultaneously using it.
Right next to Manchester Cathedral, AO Arena and Arndale shopping center. My room had two windows that could open a bit, and a nice big bathtub.

United KingdomThe shower head needed holding throughout the shower as it just kept falling down! Few stray hairs dotted around the bathroom.
Great location!! Staff are really friendly throughout, and the bedroom is brilliant, great size and nicely decorated. Nice to have a fan! We would return without a doubt.

ItalyThe hotel is also a pub and it's close to another pub so the area is very noisy all the time. The building is beautiful but very old: quite impossible open a window, the room wad very very small, and more I didn't understand the problem with the toilet because it makes weird noise when you use it, even whashing the hands cause a terrible noise coming from nowhere.
The position is exceptional if you book a room facing the cathedral and it's also 5 minutes walk from Victoria station. All around there are pubs and restaurants. I appreciate the english breakfast that you have to pay separately anyway it's not expensive.

Ideal location. Very quirky rooms as the building is so old. Great value for money for a family of four. It is the center of the bar district so expect some noise. Nothing unreasonable for where it is.

United KingdomNarrow stairs. No lift. The building is about 200 of year old. The windows are not double glazed therefore, noises from the outside can be heard.

United KingdomThe family room was not at all like advertised. The photos of the family room advertised show a separate bedroom with a double bed. However, we got a small room with a double & 2 singles. We asked to change rooms, but the room which does have a separate bedroom was already taken. We had to move the beds around to suit. We found old ear plugs, chocolate wrappers and an unused (thankfully) sanitary towel under one of the beds.
Amazing location. Staff were all great!

United KingdomThe doors are heavy and tend to slam if you're not careful. There was a support beam for the roof that was quite low and was a bit of a hazard for my tall partner. The room unfortunately smelled of wet dog so an air freshener would've been a nice addition to the room.
I liked the architecture of the building. The toilet and shower was clean even with it being shared.
