One small thing, we felt that a separate bar menu rather than the main restaurant menu would have been useful.

Beautiful hotel in wonderful village, a gem. The staff were very attentive and we had no complaints.

Only there for a short one night stay but the room and bar was lovely, just be aware of dog charge.

Should have been clearer that it is £25 to have a dog, it came up as a result on the 'Pet friendly ' filter on booking.com we were lucky we had chosen a ground floor room, there did not appear to be an option to add a pet so we thought that was included in price. The room was ideal for a dog by the way with garden and patio at rear.

Bathroom and shower were lovely as was bedroom and the patio door and Garden to rear for our small dog.

Nothing really - if I was being picky I didn’t feel the constant monotonous’music’ was necessary in the otherwise lovely bistro

Beautifully renovated interesting building. Everywhere was imaginatively designed and decorated- delightful!

The traffic on the A1 was very evident from the rear of the hotel.

Breakfast was outstanding! Our room was extremely pleasant & with the added bonus of a patio.

Very little - it was great. It isn’t cheap but when you stay you realise that it is a special place.

Lovely setting. Great facilities and employees were very welcoming. Felt like a luxurious country retreat. Food and cocktails were amazing too!

Carpets were a little worn. Cups in our room were slightly on the small side and not enough tea and coffee but you only had to request more and it was quickly provided. There isn't much around the hotel to have a wander or a mooch about so it isn't somewhere that you could just pop over to. But we would definitely return.

Location for us was good as it was near an event. We had an evening meal which was very well cooked and we had breakfast which was also lovely. Our room was nice but we couldn't connect our devices to the tv. Bed was very comfortable and the toiletries were a nice touch. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the grounds and outdoor spaces. We would definitely return.

There was nothing we disliked about the property just on a personal level… We required a ground floor garden room due to my disability, which was thankfully available and very much appreciated. However, as my husband is quite tall, it would have been ideal to have a super king bed situated downstairs. Had we been given the option of a larger bed, we would have gladly taken it and paid any additional cost.

A really beautiful building sympathetically restored and renovated. Excellent showers with great pressure, comfortable beds and good quality linen Every member of staff couldn’t do enough for us they were all professional, friendly and happy to help… This was gratefully received and appreciated! The friendliness of all the staff made our short stay wonderful and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel or return when we are in the area (and I am a bit of a stickler for good service!) thanks!!

This hotel is beautiful and it is in a lovely village. The staff are exceptional. Friendly, polite and helpful. We had a room with a patio and it was lovely. Very clean and spacious with all the things we needed. Bottles of water in the fridge, a hair dryer, plug sockets near the bed, tea and coffee facilities with biscuits. I loved the trees lit up with fairy lights as we walked from the restaurant to our room. There was ample parking off the road. I highly recommend having an evening meal here as the menu was fantastic and the food was delicious.

The garden was undergoing some alterations which made it less attractive to be in than it might have been.

We chose this hotel as a stop-off location to break up a long journey, but the village and area (including Stamford) would make it a great place for a short break. The room was clean and well appointed with a very powerful waterfall shower. Dinner was excellent, as was the breakfast. The staff were friendly and efficient.
