Appears (visually) rather old and worn but actually a very comfortable stay so nothing to dislike at all

Great room and bathroom was excellent. Large shower and decent water pressure. Bed was comfortable. Evening meal was fine and breakfast also very good. Plenty parking. Great value.

Although the place does look a bit tired from the outside they have upgraded the rooms. There was a wee bit mold in the shower cubicle but it wasn't too bad. Couldn't fault the breakfast as it was lovely. Will definitely be back.

Probably a first world problem, my feet hung out the end of the bed so my sleep wasn't great, but the room was otherwise comfortable.

I think my room the bed mattress and pillows could do with upgrading. But the other room we booked was much better so I assume they are being done on a phased basis. The towels could be a bit bigger / nicer but they were clean and fine for our needs.

We booked very last minute. They were able to accommodate all our needs and more. We got a table for dinner and the room was very nice - clean, modern - everything we could need for our short stay. The water temperature was great and the shower had good pressure.

A nice comfy hotel just by the water, in a quiet village - simple, old building, which I like, with everything you need, and a good value for money! Not many buses but still manageable and a restaurant/pub next door. I recommend this place. :)

Room was recently renovated, modern feel, clean. Much better than what I had expected after reading reviews. Kamal checked us in and also ran the bar and took breakfast orders, hard worker and looked after us.

The room was very noisy from voices in reception area and from a tv in the room above us. The shower was very cold and even when it became mildly warm there was no water pressure.

It’s an older hotel which we have stayed in before so knew what to expect Had read the reviews about hot water, stayed in room 8 with a bath at the window lovely view except it was lukewarm water even after running the bath for 15 mins, same with the shower

One of us is intolerant of wheat and barley (not entirely gluten free but almost!) and there was not a lot on the menu that could satisfy my dietary needs as we also don't eat red meat. Initially we were told our request at breakfast could not be done but then it was brought for us as asked. This was very helpful.

The manager was very helpful and attended to matters quickly and efficiently. Staff were courteous and friendly. The dog was allowed in the bedroom and the lounge area and there was a dining table in that area where we could also eat with the dog present. However, if this table was already in use the dog had to be left in the car as we wouldn't leave her in the room on her own.

The waiter Kamal from Nepal was fantastic. He was extremely polite and helpful when we arrived last minute. A credit to the hotel.

Nothing I didn't like.

Pleasantly surprised! I needed to get somewhere near Tarbert and everything was booked up so chose the Grey Gull despite not having the best reviews. Don't be put off by them as this is a hidden gem. It's a beautiful old building with a bit of history and has a fantastic character and atmosphere. It may need a bit of work here and there, but it's rather modern inside. I loved my room at way at the top. It was quiet, clean and very comfortable. Despite being next to the road, the window was really sound proofed. Watching the moon rise and sunrise was amazing. I also had dinner there which was delicious and treated exceptionally well by the staff. Staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming.Definitely recommend.

Reception had to go and find someone to book in. Fan in bathroom not working, light by bed not working, curtains broken from curtain rail. All a bit tired. Why would you have a bath in front of the window in the bedroom?
