Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe went to meet friends and when we got back to the property we asked for food. I admit it was late. The barmaid who was very helpful said to go across the road as there is a chip shop etc. I wasn’t told that I wouldn’t be able to eat the food. On return I sat outside on the benches. At this point I’m guessing the landlord and 2 woman came back. The landlord was polite. Said I shouldn’t be eating on their bench. He pointed to a sign that I didn’t see. I replied apologetic that I didn’t know and I was wasn’t aware. He said going forward no food can be eaten but because it’s late night he will allow me. He just asked if I could clear up after myself in which I already had the bag in which the takeaway came from already in position to put any waste in and pointed to a bin outside the property in which I said I would clear up after myself and discard any rubbish. At this point the two ladies then walked to the door, see that I was eating and spoke very loud swearing at how if I wanted an Indian I should have sat in the restaurant. And I was taking the piss bringing food back to the pub. They did not talk to me but they spoke very loud swearing and gesturing at how rude I was. I wouldn’t have minded if the landlord had told me to move but because he had agreed and then these two ladies were speaking really loud put me in a really awkward position. I felt really uncomfortable and upset they feel that this is an acceptable way to talk to people staying at their pub. And understand rules are the rules but make it very clear and move me off the table or allow me to eat and speak about me in a loud conversation on how disrespectful I am. I cleared away my food put the waste in the bin what was left over, Made sure there was no scraps on the table. I then made my way to the room.
The location was perfect. The room was clean. They supplied a fan that was really nice in the heat. Reception staff were very helpful, lots of parking.

United KingdomThe shower was weak pressure and difficult to use, the room was too hot, the room had trains going by every 2 seconds, the personnel were extremely bigoted in the area, describing your staff as ‘Foreigners’ when things didn’t run smoothly, The portions for the breakfast were too small and the price was very expensive.
The Car park and location was convenient.

United KingdomNice shower, but shower door hit the loo when opening. The sink wasn't plumbed in properly, the overflow wasn't connected to anything so water just gushed across the floor when it reached that high. Bed was incredibly non-supportive. (read soft). Room was incredibly hot, with just a fan to move the air around a bit.
Room was small but perfectly serviceable, fairly quiet despite the express trains, even so we enjoyed it and had a really nice stay.

United KingdomWe had booked a double room but we're given twin beds at 90* angles in a small room. The bathroom was old fashioned with a horrible smell. The trainline ran right at the back of the room so it was late to sleep and 5.00 am wake up.

Characterful traditional inn located in pleasant village of Pangbourne within easy reach of Reading and Thames Path. Unpretentious pub with restaurant. Other eating options and shop in the village. Easy parking. Room had character. Nice shower. On main road but not disturbed by traffic noise. Limited breakfast options but decent cooked English.

United KingdomIt’s a shame that the hotel is next to a very busy stretch of railway where some of the trains go through at high speed. Stayed on a very warm night so wanted the windows open (no a/c) but didn’t want the noise of the trains.

United KingdomThe parking was stressful. The trains Friday night and into Saturday kept us awake. Toilet seat was dangerous. Shower was very low pressure. The stairs were an issue for my elderly mum. Matress was very soft, not ideal for my back issues. Room was stuffy due to extreme hot weather.
The staff were very friendly. Very obliging. The location and distance to the train station was brilliant. Breakfast was good value and tasty.
