The back entrance passageway was used for storing building materials and paint which made it a little awkward to negotiate.

The breakfast was excellent, tasty ingredients, well cooked. The bar staff and bar the previous evening where all top notch. The whole hotel was well kept and clean. Even the sloping floor in our room just added to the old a bench of the building.

There are a few steep atairs upto the first floor of bedrooms but perfectly managed with handrails.parking is in the public square but we have always managed to park there.

Food is well cooked and varied.room over. Looked the main square which is very quiet.great location for a concert at the town hall.shower in the small bathroom.staff are very pleasant and helpful.

We chose the roast lunch on Sunday and were disappointed with the food, especially the Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes. We wondered if they had been kept warm for several hours. They certainly weren't crisp!

The room was very comfortable and very clean. We appreciated the tea/ coffee making facilities in the room. Our Monday night meal in the pub was delicious, beautifully presented, and the serving staff were excellent. The proprietor ensured we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend staying there.

I was only there for a night. I would have liked to stay longer.

Had dinner the night before, was excellent and breakfast was first class. Comfy room - great location in the centre of the village, and who doesn't love a room over an old pub. Top notch and I'll be staying again whenever I can make an excuse.

The George Hotel is truly a hidden gem within a lovely town. It is well located within in town and provides easy access to numerous access roads. The hotel itself is full of character, offers amazing rooms, excels with excellent staff and provides a delightful breakfast.

Price per night is a bit high, for where it is, but this was the only thing that I felt was a bit off. Ive paid less in London! But I wouldn't complain about it, just mentioned in passing.

Great staff! Kitchen stayed open a short while after last food orders as I was held up on the motorway. As I was leaving early, chef also made best bacon sandwich ever to take away!

Lovely old building. Room was cosy & comfy. Bar and restaurant area was in keeping with the design and very comfortable.

It was quite noisy from the bar downstairs, but that shut at 11pm.

The hotel itself was lovely, we had a private entrance to the hotel rooms (separate from the bar/restaurant below). The beds were very comfy and we were given lots of tea/coffee/hot chocolate making items.

I was greeted with a very warm welcome from the landlord who couldn’t do enough for me. The room was well appointed with everything you could need. It was clean with a brand-new bathroom. The food was excellent, hospitality at its best. Thank you so much.

The location was beautiful, a lovely little village. The hotel is located in the centre of a quaint little village market square with lots of local shops to visit. The hotel is aesthetically pleasing with a very warm, welcoming feel. The staff were amazing and the food is something else. I had the peppered steak pie with mash, greens, and a side of beef gravy. From the first bite to the last, everything tasted great.

Nice bathroom but would have preferred a walk in shower rather than a slipper bath. No other concerns.

Comfortable night stay in a Superior double room which looked out towards the courtyard. Adequate facilities in the room. Friendly staff. Stayed for evening meal which was fabulous. Good selection of food and drink. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting an impromptu stay over as we did.
