Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSadly the hotel is in need of updating but for the money it's not bad.
Praveen the owner was a superstar so helpful and very entertaining. The room was basically clean with a good shower. Overall good value for money and located within a 10 minute drive to the town centre.

AustraliaThe room was very spacious and comfortable - the staff were wonderful to deal with, nothing was too much trouble. My father inlaw ate at the restaurant and said the food was really nice too.

SpainIt is what it is. A cheap place to stay. If you are fussy you need to pay a lot more. It was more than adequate for my needs.
It is simple, cheap and self-contained. It had what I needed and I was grateful for it. 🙂

United KingdomI don't think it would be reasonable to expect much more for the price charged. The room is basic but comfortable and had everything I needed A perfectly good base for a visit to Durham.
The indian restaurant attached to the hotel is exceptional. Food is terrific. Staff are friendly and attentive and prices are very reasonable.

United KingdomRooms at the front suffered from traffic noise. If it were my hotel I would upgrade to triple or add secondary glazing to reduce the noise.

United KingdomFor one night it was ok.
Big rooms! Clean, but what you would expect with an old period property. Really convenient for a Durham or nearby stopover. We didn’t have any problems for our one night stay. Heard the restaurant is pretty good.

United KingdomBasic room. Only one bath towel on bed when arrived (found another in a drawer). Tired decor. Only one bedside table. We paid a lot due to graduation time I think. Looking at August, room is a lot cheaper and better value.
Easy car park. Decent sized room and bathroom. Quiet area. 3 bus services, 6, 7 and x21 into city, very easy with bus stop close by and late buses back. Bar was open in evening. Restaurant closed for a few weeks but we weren't there for that.

United KingdomThis is quite a busy place so I couldn't describe it as a 'quiet retreat ' which somewhere more rural would be but then it is in a living village near a city and a nice place to stay so it is busy - but friendly !
Home from home but with much better food ! Lovely airy , light room , very comfortable bed ,great power-shower, friendly and helpful staff , Braveen and Jack and others , really good location for walking plus easy access to Durham which is a beautiful city .Good bus service and walks along the river Wear all accessible from here . Special mention must be made of the cuisine here : I'm a fan of Indian cooking but this place is exceptional in variety of choice and quality of the cooking . Really good cooking. Most choice I've ever seen on a menu -all the dishes I had were a delight .Kitchen open From 4pm - 11pm. The place does takeaway too and is very much part of the local village which adds to its 'homely' atmosphere . There is a nice restaurant and bar or you can have meals in your room. The TV worked better than my own , the power- shower was great , all was clean and comfortable. Room service visited each day to replenish milk etc Nice views of the distant hills and playpark from my window . Bus stops close by , also nice country walks to next village and nearby other pubs which also do food - though I didn't try these . I felt welcomed and well looked after here and will visit again.

United KingdomRoom was at the front & it's on a main road so alot of noise. The car park at the back is a mess- rough, bumpy & messy piece of land. Everywhere was very run down & in need of a good clean, tidy & redecorating. 1 bed was very soft & the other was as hard as sleeping on the floor, extremely uncomfortable. Bathroom is a sliding door which doesn't shut properly so you can hear (see into) everything whilst in the room. It's just very outdated & none of the furnishings or curtains etc matched.
Price - £80 for family room (3 of us) Location handy for supermarket etc Friendly staff Shower was very good

We liked the oldy worldly type of accomodation over the top of a pub. We were able to order food from the adjoining Indian restaurant which was delicious and reasonably priced. We weren't a million miles away from local shopping centers and food chains
