The restaurant was closed on Friday night so wr had to eat out. The choice of vegetables to go with the evening meal was strange not the choice you would expect. Also one evening a small dog came running out of the bar and could be caught. It eventually fouled the corridor to the bedrooms. The owner did pick the mess up but it wasn’t disinfected. I think dogs should be kept on a lead and controlled at all times.

The room was not as modern or well kept as the photos suggested. The lighting was dated and not in good locations I.e near a mirror. The room 203 was not cleaned to a very good standard. There were marks on the shower, shower gel on the walls. There was dust on the tv unit, the desk and radiator. There was rubbish down the side of the desk and a lack of bedside tables. Over all the room and the hotel was quite dated. We understand it’s an old building so there are limits to what can be done but it was disappointing. The breakfast only offered instant coffee it would have been nice to have options for coffee lovers.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The location is beautiful.

Bit run down, staff unavailable or unfriendly, not smiling. Thought when booked breakfast was included, but told bluntly it wasn’t on arrival.

The hotel was quite a way from the town and the beach, so if you had mobility issues, it could be a problem.. The extractor fan in the bedroom was not working which was a little inconvenient.

Quite a list of dislikes, but not enough to stop us staying again. Breakfast sausages of poor quality, and the only hotel we have stayed in where guests make their own hot drinks at breakfast from tea bags and coffee sachets! No information on allergens present on the breakfast buffet. No shower mat for use in shower. Poor guest security - no fire evacuation notice on room door; room keys had to be deposited in a bowl on reception when leaving the hotel, from which they could easily be taken by others. No phone in room or details how to contact reception in an emergency. We previously stayed here when there was a large open air swimming pool, but this has now been filled in and paved over! Why?

The hotel was in a convenient location, close to bus and rail services. The room we had was large, with a comfortable bed and we slept well as there was no noise apart from birds singing in the morning and a few doors banging in the corridor from other guests. You should be able to see some red squirrels in the gardens, so pack some nuts!

I arrived at the hotel at 2:55 and thought it was quite petty that I couldn't check in as I had been on the island since 7:30 that morning but fair enough just thought the guy behind the desk was quite rude about it. Extremely hot in the room. Cheap hair dryer and kettle were the only amenities. Hotel looks like its slowly being run down .....beautiful but not nearly enough maintenance being done to keep it up to what it once was i.e paint, furniture, landscaping etc.

Location was great as I brought my dog with me for a week of work on the island. WiFi was good.

No phone in room, so couldn't speak to reception. No fridge in room to keep drinks cold. At the very least they should have water coolers on each floor. Noise from bar but every time we went to use the bar it was closed early. No soap in Gent's toilet near reception and only 1 toilet had toilet paper. Breakfast: the hot food didn't look apertising so didn't bother with cooked breakfast. The same food over 3 mornings; a bit of variety would have been nice. Room very hot despite having 2 windows open the entire night; a fan would have solved this issue.

Quiet location, close to bus stop and Sandown rail station. Bed very comfortable and bathroom was fine.

How we was over charged on one of our orders, - we knew this as we ordered the same drinks multiple times. When we first arrived our room had spiders and spiders webs that you can clearly see haven’t been cleaned properly. You could tell it needed a good clean and a splash of paint.
