How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The hotel is old, no elevator and the room is quite hot
The breakfast was very good, much better than normal hotel. The staff is also very friendly & helpful. Nice & quite town.

There is no lift so if you are elderly or have mobility problems I would suggest requesting a room on the ground floor.

The toilet in the room was a bit stuffy.
It was very good! Excellent location, right at the heart of the town, gorgeous scenery by the river, Amazing food and excellent outdoors bar/restaurant. The staff were very nice and very attentive!

Some parts of the hotel could do with a bit of restoration.
Lovely location on the river and a very short walk to the town centre. Friendly and helpful staff who couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Spacious room with a comfortable bed and nice views.

All good. It's just an old building with all that that brings, but charming.
Lovely building, very sweet staff, great breakfast of local,great produce, comfy bed. Good supper and nice bar area. Our room had a very noisy tap, so they refunded our whole stay as they didn't have another room. Thought that was generous. Sandwich is a charming little place.

We booked a premium room and whilst the bed, linen, room size, towels and hot water were excellent. Disappointed to not have a fridge or bottled water in the room. Was offered chilled tap water! The room had lots of areas that needed repairs. We did highlight these to the management and action is being taken.
Great location. Friendly lovely staff. Great breakfast. Good selection of teas and coffees in room. Excellent toiletry selection.

Would have preferred water in the room and milk in the room the breakfast I had was inedible I had the vegetarian breakfast the sausage was the worst sausage I’ve ever been served the chef really needs to taste it and I’m sure it wouldn’t be served again it was claggy is the word I would use almost like play dough just awful the whole breakfast was warm not hot I asked my husband to try the sausage and he couldn’t swallow it and he will eat anything !!! Please look into the vegetarian breakfast and either stop doing it or get a few people to try it before you serve it.
The room was beautiful spotlessly clean and the hotel is in a great location for exploring sandwich the evening meal was perfect and the staff were all very friendly and helpful
