Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWould have preferred to have a sink in the kitchenette area for washing up and kettle filling.
Really helpful owners and staff, clean, very comfortable, quiet, cute and quirky.

United Kingdomcommunications - I had to phone to ask some questions in advance as no reply via messaging or email. Small things about the place could be easily improved to make it an excellent rating , especially for 4 people staying as we were- I have messaged the owner about these so I hope they are taken on board
the family suite in this guest house was very nice and clean and conveniently located. Good value for money

United KingdomThe waterfront area in Hawick was for us difficult to find - it took us three rounds across the High Street and the two bridges to find where to turn off to the area where the hotel is located. The hotel instructions could contain some note on that.

United KingdomThat there was no milk portions or enough sugar sachets for a few cups of tea or coffee. Of which there was more than ample of sachets of, for a single room for 1, for a 1 night stay.. Just missing the milk portions and enough sugar sachets to match the number of sachets of coffee and teabags..
That it was in the centre area of the town. Had everything needed for a comfortable night's stay.

United KingdomUsed to be able to help yourself to more tea, coffee and milk, but that is no longer the case. Minor point. Can't fault it past that.
Second stay here and it's an absolute bargain. Its very comfortable, if not a bit tired, but for the money it's a steal. Very comfortable bed and great shower.

United KingdomCan hear people upstairs in other rooms but not a major issue.
Clean, comfortable accommodation near the centre of town and bus links. Several supermarkets nearby and a 2 minute walk to Wetherspoons for breakfast. Have to call for access as entry keypads not working but it was all quick and easy to gain access and get a set of keys. Would definitely stay again if passing through.

United KingdomEntry code on the door was difficult initially for people who had not encountered that electronic system before. The kettle wouldn't fit under the bathroom tap. A smaller kettle or a water jug would help.
Excellent shower. Easy to use. Comfortable beds. Friendly and helpful staff on the phone when I encountered problems with the entry system.

GermanyI stayed in a single economy room. The bed was very narrow (80 cm ?) and for that size, the mattress was by far too soft. All night I had the feeling of sliping out of the bed as the edges of the mattress sunk in and there was no hard border of the bed.
Check-in possible, by telephone call only, worked very well. Room was clean and tidy. The ceiling above the shower in the bathtub is very low. Thus, showering is possible only on knees or crouched. Great alternative was to take a bath! The location is excellently midtown. As the property does not provide breakfast, I enjoyed in the morning an excellent coffee, creative sourdough bread and tart in the café "Love Scottish" right across the street. Very recommend.

United KingdomA few things will need improvement like the bathroom door latches and sink seemed to be blocked.
Location is nice, so is the view from the apartment. It’s very warm and cosy. Off road parking is a bonus. Very quiet area. The owner was helpful with door lock and assisted with our visit.

United KingdomThe PIN code to enter the property and my room didn't work on the second day of my stay and I had to phone up the management to get it working. The lavatory press button kept getting stuck each time I flushed, causing the water to keep flowing: the management came to investigate and showed me what I needed to do inside the cistern after every time I flushed; also the washbasin tap was slightly loose. A few years ago, I used to stay at the same premises, run by the previous owner, when Breakfast was provided, but now it isn't: I used to pay around £50 per night which included a cooked breakfast, but now it is £85 and no breakfast. There was a TV, but three quarters of the channels did not work.
Location was fine. I was able to park close to the guest house: there was a Wetherspoons, "The Bourtree", nearby so I was able to get breakfast there, as the guest house no longer has a kitchen or dining room.

United KingdomI think the room could do with a small fridge and possibly a microwave, considering there is no restaurant there is also nothing in the rooms to cook anything with so a microwave would be ideal. The room seemed a wee bit cold all the time and even with radiators turnt up they never come on so had to double up on blankets at night, but for a short stay it wasnt too dramatic, maybe for a longer stay it might have been.
The room was clean, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. The size of the room was good for just me it was ample space, it had 3 single beds so i think if 3 people were in there it might be a bit tight but for a single person it was fine. Great location to all the shops and supermarkets.

United KingdomSome plates and cutlery would have been appreciated for snacks. Not being able to have a cooked breakfast before travelling on.
This place was warm and cosy, all areas well lit, There was no breakfast offered here which was a shame as it is a great place, you can get breakfast most places nearby but not till at least 9am which is not always ideal. Perfect location for supermarkets, restaurants, shopping and base for visiting other areas. Contact was easy and professional, we were also upgraded so really appreciated that. We will definitely come back here.
