Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The location of Swinton Park is truly delightful, The Walled grounds and the wider estate an absolute must to visit. The hotel, a superb venue for a weekend break. Both Samual’s and the Terrace bar made for the excellent dining experience. Would almost certainly return to this venue….

United KingdomThe spa was wonderful - it’s a small thing the beer wasn’t chilled enough! They’d also run out of all savoury snacks from the menu in spa. The waiter was kind enough to go and locate some crisps for us which we very much appreciated!
Beautiful and relaxing

We absolutely loved Swinton Park, the staff were above and beyond helpful, made us feel so welcome. The spa is fabulous, the highlight of our trip was being able to swim in the lake, totally glorious and not to be missed!

United KingdomCheck in wasn't great. Left sitting for 30 minutes as they tried to sort out our which had a plumbing issue, eventually in but the issue hadn't been fixed and we had to move room due to leaky tap. It felt a little long to be left sitting. And then it took around an hour for them to prepare the new room. New room was a suite, but felt tired and the furnishings were a little hard. Layout also a little strange, and shutters were very hard to open. All in all the food was good. Some elements were excellent such as the Sunday lunch and a few of the a la carte options. However both of our desserts were underwhelming and the cost of the breakfast massively put us off. There is no light or small option for those that do not want the full breakfast, such that we decided to have nothing at all on both of our mornings as we couldn't justify spending that much on breakfast. The grounds are beautiful, and the building is stunning but as a hotel there could have been improvements. I would visit the Estate again, but for the high cost you expect at least a 9/10 experience so I'm not sure we'd stay at the hotel again
The grounds are stunning and we throughly enjoyed our time exploring them. Worth a trip up to the Druid circle although I'd recommend driving unless you're hearty, as it's quite far. The property is beautiful and feels exclusive. The spa facilities are good, especially the pool.

United KingdomI tried to call several times on the day of arrival to advise we were going to be late, and change our dinner reservation, but it was impossible to get through. There were a lot of cobwebs around the socket behind the bedside table!
A wonderful hotel in a beautiful setting. The staff were all delightful, and we had an excellent dinner and delicious breakfast.

United KingdomMy only niggle was the way the service charge is applied to the final bill at check out. I'm more than happy to pay a service charge on food and beverages, but it was a surprise to see the charge applied to accommodation as well. I've since found out that the service charge policy is detailed on the Swinton Estate website, however I do think more could be done to draw attention to this aspect of the final bill and that the charge is discretionary.
The hotel is stunning and we received a warm welcome. We were shown to our rooms by Trevor, who was a font of knowledge about the Estate, and set the scene for our two night stay. The vibe was relaxed and the staff were friendly and attentive. Our room was stunning with a view of the deer park and had one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. We made good use of the well equipped gym and relaxed in the spa. The grounds are large and definitely worth exploring... particularly the extensive kitchen garden, woodland hammocks and wild swimming. We booked room only so made our way to the other side of the estate for delicious eggs on toast at the Bivouac Café. I can highly recommend Chef's Table tasting menu experience.

United KingdomWe were disappointed with the brunch offering (over £8 for 3 miniature pastries) and the service at dinner was a little slow - we didn’t receive our wine until we had eaten half our starter.

NetherlandsCommunication before arrival could be improved a bit, but nothing major.
The setting is gorgeous and very impressive already from arrival. The building are beautiful and interior beautifully curated. We didn't use the spa, but walked around the grounds extensively and loved it. We also had a hawk walk with the falconer, who was super knowledgeable and passionate: we really enjoyed it and will never forget it. Dinner at the Terrace was superb. We really look forward to coming back to Swinton Park.

United KingdomWe stayed on a Friday, so peak price. However, the room did not justify the £400 price, excluding breakfast. Since we're talking about breakfast, expected a lot more for the £35 pp!!! Overall, it felt like a bit of profiteering, which soured the experience.'
Spectacular setting and lots to do if you use it as a base. The grounds alone will keep you entertained for a morning. Lovely staff.

LuxembourgI tried to get a reservation for a falconry experience via phone call and emails over a period of 5 days before we arrived. Nothing was done, unavailable on check-in, and just a ‘oh, we’re sorry’ from the front desk. Wasn’t impressed at £25/head spa entrance fee as a guest of the hotel, this really should be included at the price and in a hotel of this standard.
Beautiful setting & expansive grounds, the historical aspect, the deer outside, beautiful rooms with fresh flowers everywhere
