Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe internet service was out the entire length of stay and was unable to accomplish needed work. The hours for pool and fitness center could also have been better for the late arrival. We also found the location to be further from Dundee downtown than what was conveyed online which luckily we had a car (no free parking).
The castle and grounds are beautiful and a lot of amenities are available for leisure at the property.

United KingdomI wasn’t impressed that you have to pay for parking. Also the buffet breakfast food wasn’t as hot as it should have been and the plates were cold. Coffee from the machine was weak and not also hot.
Location was good, good facilities, friendly staff. Other than below the room was good, excellent shower, good towels, good in-room tea and coffee etc.

United KingdomNo wifi available for my working trip of two nights. Seems like it’s been down a while and was advised by reception it wouldn’t be available anytime soon. Room was noisy, could hear neighbours talking. The beautiful grey stone building you see in the listing isn’t the main entrance, which is a bit of a letdown when arriving. The extension part of the hotel isn’t shown in any of the photos. No diary free alternatives like milk or yoghurt at breakfast.
Staff were great, rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. Handy location for the city centre if you’re driving or using taxis.

NetherlandsNo wifi. After asking: at has been off for a week. And the hotel needs an upgrade and some paint. Shower was fountaining water all over the place. Breakfast is very very basic. With dirty cutlery and dishes. And did I say “no wifi”? No wifi. How is that even possible.
Some of the staff were nice. Bed was OK. There is a pool (which I didn’t use).

United KingdomWooden seating area outside was old and chairs were wobbly and looked like they were ready to break. Don’t agree with having to pay for parking when you’ve already paid to stay at hotel.

United KingdomThe restaurant..... First thoughts Ohh.. have we made the right choice to eat here? First impression This glass house restaurant did not have a clean window in the whole room, and they looked like they had not seen a good clean for quite some time. It was a warm summer evening, and every marked, smeared, and dirty window stood out like a very sore thumb. The decor was very tired. seat covers, carpets, service areas, and random items laying around everywhere. screens, boxes, etc. all laying around the main area of the restaurant. The presentation was very unwelcoming and is in desperate need of a complete overhall and refurbishment. Staffing was lacklustre. When we were in, there were 6 tables being used. 4 x 2 cover and 2 x 4 covers. Waiters were slow to attend tables. Our drinks order was taken with our food order. One diet coke, one orange, and lemonade. We waited 15 mins for our drinks and 2 orange and lemonade arrived. We kept them and said cancel the Diet coke. It arrived 10 minutes later, as did drinks for 2 other tables. The waiter had no clue as to which table he was taking drinks to and kept asking us, "Are these your drinks?" We waited over 40 mins for our food to arrive!! The food was very tasty, hot, well presented, and a good portion, which made up for the wait. It was only let down by the overall presentations of the restaurant itself and the disorganisation of the staff. We had to go to the bar to pay our bill and the barman had to ask us what we had to eat and drink, he didn't have a clue as to what we had. We could have said anything.. or even walked out without paying at all!!! We didn't and paid in full. We did want to tip the young man who took our payment and made us coffee, but he informed us they were not allowed to take tips ??? A strange end to a mediocre dining experience. It's such a shame, as the rest of our stay and the facilities were very pleasant and comfortable.
Staff at reception were very welcoming and efficient. Apologised for the WiFi being down on our arrival. Explained the facilities available to us during our stay and booked us in for supper at our request. Our room was spotlessly clean. The bed was huge.. and very comfortable. The shower was hot and powerful, and the towels were soft. Spa and pool were a great bonus to our stay. Although the lockers were a bit rusty inside, they could do with being updated. Overall, our stay was very pleasant, and we would return.

United KingdomCharging person's staying in the hotel for parking. There is no requirement for it, as there is no evidence of anything extra in place for ensuring the security of the vehicles. What is the charge for? Breakfast not included in the price. Not the best wifi

United KingdomThe hotel could be doing with a good deep clean. It wasn't dirty, just the carpets needed a good clean. A coat of paint is needed and things like the shower curtains are a bit dated. The ceiling in the bathroom needs a clean too. Nothing out of the ordinary for a place that is used regularly. The last time we stayed I'm sure we didn't pay for parking so that wasn't great but the decent priced car charging was a bonus. I'm sure it's expensive to put in and run but a wee fridge would be good too.
It's a nice hotel with plenty of parking and car chargers which is great. It's in a good location if you don't want to be right in the city. It's only a 10 minute drive. The staff were lovely. It was a fairly quiet room and we had a good sleep in a huge bed. The wee sachets of milk were good as we had forgotten to get some.

AustraliaThe pay for parking is done through an app. The WiFi at hotel wasn’t working which makes it difficult to pay for parking which if you don’t costs you £100. Asked if they could do it for me and was told know. Seeming we were on overseas roaming charges this made it difficult but eventually sorted it out at my extra cost. Wish we had been informed about this when booking the room.
Comfortable and in a good position for a roadtrip stop over.
