Service was slow- was standing around waiting to be checked in for a good few minutes. Service at breakfast was slow- took 30 minutes to get our food, although the food was good.

good size rooms, well done out, good selection of teas/coffees

The Sugar Boat is an absolute gem of a place right in the ❤️ heart of Helensborough.we stayed with our little dog Laly in room four,a lovely modern quirky suite, beautifully decorated, and a joy to spend time in.We dined downstairs in the restaurant. For both our evening meal and Breakfast, and everything was delicious, especially the homemade Gnocchi.Breakfast was wonderful. Thanks to all the staff .We would highly recommend this place

    Nothing it was perfect

The sugar boat was a wonderful place to stay. The room was stunning and the facilities in the room were perfect ( lovely teas and coffee as well as bottled fresh water ) comfy bed and a powerful shower with nice toiletries. The staff were very attentive and helpful and went above and beyond to make our stay ideal , We were made to feel very welcome and special. The breakfast was delicious, freshly cooked and filling. I would thoroughly recommend staying in these centrally located beautiful rooms ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If I'd known how nice it was, and that there were oysters on a Friday night, I'd have come up for that instead of just staying one night... will just have to come back for that!

Lovely buzzy vibe in the diner - and the breakfast was delicious. We could see that it was freshly prepared, and they got my scrambled eggs just right! The room was just perfect, it had every thing required for a comfortable stay, and was spotlessly clean. Thank you!

Nothing major. The sofa in room 4 wasn't particularly comfortable to relax on, and rather far from the TV. The carpet was a bit rough, as others have mentioned. But nothing that would prevent us from booking again.

Great location, friendly staff, nicely furnished rooms, delicious food downstairs. Parking isn't an issue, as there's a free car park by the water just a few minutes' walk away.

Top position, wonderful roof room, excellent food, young, talented and warm team. The Sugar Boat is now our favorite destination. We recommend them as a 5/5 ranked venue. Top! Grazie mille!

Entry is to the side and up some steep, rather dark stairs, then more stairs and a door. It's definitely not a location for big wheeled luggage, and I was a little worried about finding my way out in the event of fire. There's a public car park at the back which is free from 6pm - 9am, but you have to pay otherwise or try to find some unlimited street parking. Breakfast started at 9am (don't know if this was just a Sunday time), and latest checkout was 10am, which made for some fast eating and packing. Room 3 looked out onto the air-conditioning unit for the kitchen, which was noisy, and I was relieved when it stopped just before midnight.

Room 3 is small, as can be seen from the photos, but was very clean and comfortable and nicely decorated in a kind of marine steampunk style. There was a cafetiere with real coffee, nice biscuits, and carafes of water. Staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent.

This is the second time we book this place and this room, because we loved it the first time. Second time, nothing to complain about. The room was just as lovely, although really hot as that was during the heatwave (not much they can do about that!). Perfect location as it is right in Helensburgh, the room is massive and beautiful. We also had dinner in the restaurant below (like the first time). And again it was just as good as the first time.

Touch on the expensive side, and parking is a bit of a nightmare but luckily there's places to park for free in .. Reliable areas within a few minutes away. The carpet in the room! It's a strange carpet and is actually kind of unpleasant to walk on without socks as it's like a rough burlap sack style material.

Came up with the cat whilst at a wedding, and it was really cute that they set up some bowls and treats for cheeto! The location was prime and centre for us. Food was gorgeous and they were incredibly good and accommodating with my elderly gran for her smaller appetite.

The flooring was slightly uncomfortable to walk on in bare feet- that’s the only thing I can think of!

It was bright, obviously newly decorated and was incredibly comfortable as well as being a decent size. Great selection of tea and coffee plus biscuits. Good storage Very clean!
