Sinead was most welcoming .Our room was lovely and breakfast delicious with so much choice. .We were given a packed breakfast for a morning that we left very early. The location beside the beach was great.long walks on promenade...and the regular bus service to the city made it a great base.

We stayed at the Straven Guest House the second year now and we love it just as much as last time. The rooms are bright and clean and spacious, the beds super comfy and the breakfast is SO YUMMY! The beach and the prom are just around the corner as is the bus stop into the city centre. Supermarket, shops and a number of restaurants are on the high street and the prom. We recommend Foresters for a lovely pub atmosphere with occcasional live music. But we've also heard good things about the nearby Tapas place. Never got around to try it though. Shout out to Sinead and Chris for being such wonderful hosts! Hope to see you again soon!

It is located very close to the beach, and very close to a bus stop if you want to go to Edinbugh centre. The friendly hosts offer a very good breakfast as well.

I liked everything. If I had to be really picky then maybe larger mugs provided to a cup of tea.

The service and friendliness. Sinead and Chris went over and above. The bed was really comfortable and the location was 30 seconds from the beach with a great bus service into the city.

Quit cozy location close to beach. Beautiful breakfast! 20 mins on bus to Edinburgh. Rooms were very comfortable. and decorated nicely. We were very happy. The couple running the house were lovely and very helpful!!😊

Sinead and Chris are probably the best hosts in the world. I slept across the hall from the kitchen / breakfast area and they were able to be very quiet! It's 1min walking to the beach and 3min to the bus stop. The bed was so comfy. The shower nice and hot. For breakfast you can have the usual plus some scottish options, all delicious. Felt safe the whole time as a solo traveller (including bus trip at night). 10/10.

Straven guest house is in a beautiful location and easy to reach by bus and train. You can catch the bus at the end of the street and you are straight into the city within 20 minutes. The guesthouse was beautifully kept and very clean. The breakfast was really lovely with so much choice. Chris and Sinead were great hosts and couldn’t do more to make you feel at home. It was very peaceful and the beds were very comfy we had such a good nights sleep.

The room was a bit too small for the two large suitcases we had with us to fit comfortably - a very minor inconvenience.

The hosts, Chris and Sinead, were fabulous, very friendly and helpful. The homemade shower gel was really lovely to use also. The location, about 25min by bus from Edinburgh was just what we wanted, quiet and close to the beach. The bus stop was only a 2min walk away but we had no traffic noise.

Excellent place to stay, lovely room, good breakfast, great location and easy to get into Edinburgh. Hosts were lovely, very welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommend. We wouldn't' hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.. hoping to stay there again in the future.

Our weekend at Straven Guesthouse Edinburgh was wonderful. There is a real homely atmosphere and connection to cultural traditions. The wonderful and helpful hosts have thought of everything a guest might need. The guesthouse is very close to the coast where people like to walk. Edinburgh city centre is within easy reach by bus. Highly recommended.
