Building and location is fantastic, staff were very attentive and helpful, but need training with regards to speed of service, we waited an hour for meals, dinner and breakfast.

Lovely 3 Star Hotel in a great location and friendly staff

It’s a 3 Star property so was as expected really but the room needed redecorating in places and some of the items weren’t clean. The wifi is unusable for streaming. We had a room at the front and the traffic noise would be a bit much for light sleepers I’d say .

Very friendly staff. Our room wasn’t ready on arrival due to a plumbing issue but we were offered free drinks at the bar! It’s in a great location on the high street and only a short walk to the harbour and beach. We had the family room which was spacious . Breakfast was good.

Shower pressure wasn’t strong but was just adequate.

Friendly, welcoming staff. Excellent location. Evening meals (on two nights) were delicious. Freshly cooked curries made to our tastes but European fare was also available. Our suite was a good size, very comfortable and the hotel in general was clean.

The room was a little out dated, the shower cubicle was very small, and the 2 single beds that made up the twin bed didn't meet very well.

Dated, needs total Update with new mattresses, breakfast wasn’t good, very basic. Owners need to look at what hotels, even budget ones, are offering these days in terms of style and breakfast.

Bedroom adequate and quietly situated, nice big bathroom, was clean, plenty tea and coffee. Hotel central and handy for a shop and the park.

I understand it’s new owners so things that could be improved would be worth listening to. I travel a lot and stay in lots of hotels, my biggest pain is always the bed mattress and the one in room 6 was no exception. This mattress is done on the double bed and should have been changed a long time ago. I left after 2 days with a sore back, just buy some quality mattresses, it will bring in more business

Good location for work to get around and see my customers. The young girl on reception was lovely and very helpful, she really made the experience better

A PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE HOTEL IN A VERY PICTURESQUE LOCATION

The hotel is quite an old building and is no longer in its first flush of youth. It is a typical 3 star hotel. Those in charge might want to pay more attention to lighting in the bar/restaurant area. My husband and I sat in a small area with comfortable chairs to have a drink before our meal but this area was rather dark and gloomy and so did not create a good atmosphere. There were two not very substantial wall lights [this could be improved on], and when we queried the lighting with staff it transpired that one of the lights worked but the other didn't - presumably only for want of a light bulb? There was a large candle lamp in the corner, which, with one of those large candles, would have created a lovely glow. We saw two men while we were there, who may have been the owners or management? These little details matter - perhaps what is needed is a woman's touch!

The hotel is situated in Portsoy, a beautiful little coastal village. The hotel building is next to a very picturesque loch with extensive parkland. Although the hotel does not have its own designated parking area, there is a car park literally a few yards away and there is no charge for parking. The staff we encountered were pleasant and attentive. We had dinner at the hotel, for which we received a discount of !5% for being residents. We also had a cooked breakfast at the hotel. For both meals, the food was of good quality and very nicely cooked. There were the usual tea and coffee facilities in the room and it was nice that there was a generous supply of tea and coffee and milk so that we did not have to go cap in hand for more if we wanted to have coffee when we arrived and also in the morning before going down for breakfast.

The only fault, my room which was upgraded free of charge was to the front of hotel, although double glazed the early morning traffic woke you up.

Breakfast was excellent, evening meals good other than for a starter at evening meal on last night l had mussels they were a disaster...well over cooked...say no more... Bed was very comfortable and a good powerful shower, WiFi was good and free. Drinks were well priced, a pint of Guinness £4,20 very reasonable

Staff were very helpful with allowing me to charge my ebike, I had a lovely dinner although the portions were too large for me . Good breakfast menu with plenty of choice cooked to order. Was a real treat to also have a bath, very welcome after a long day cycling.

Shower temperature was difficult to control. Bathroom was very noisy- squeaky floorboards, noisy flush. I didn't want to disturb people near/under my room. Bathroom door had hole in it. Needed repaired.

Large room, cosy, tv, tea/coffee facilities, WiFi. Varied breakfast menu. Tasty breakfast. Great location, easy walk to cafes, restaurants, harbour, etc. 11am checkout was good, not too early. Friendly, helpful staff.
