Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBeautiful location with excellent views of Mull. Lovely, relaxing sun lounge overlooking the sea with polite and friendly staff looking after us constantly. Food was delicious and breakfast was excellent. Very accomodating for dogs. Little extras like golf clubs, drying places for coats and shoes and lifts to the ferry also very nice touches.

United KingdomMy room wasn't huge, but it was very comfortable, it had a sea view and everything I needed.
I just loved this hotel. Very friendly staff, very relaxed atmosphere. There's a great lounge area with floor to ceiling windows and views out to sea. You could just sit there and read a book, and staff would bring you a cafetiere of coffee. They'll transport your bags from the ferry to the hotel and back, too. On location, it's maybe a ten minute walk from the ferry and a three minute walk to the abbey. The food in the restaurant is great, and you can also get sandwiches or soup from their Larder store opposite and eat it in the lounge area. I'd definitely go back.

United KingdomAll good here.
Great welcome at reception and bags were looked after until check in time (even transferred to our room). We had a nice lunch in the garden then a superb dinner in the lounge (even our Husky dog was well looked after). The location is stunning with so many beautiful aspects it's impossible to list them all. Staff were welcoming, helpful and informative, a real pleasure to talk with. We will be back again next year for sure, it was such a great weekend.

United KingdomVery loud party of Americans who were eating their own food and were sprawled across the residents lounge running the young girls (waitresses) ragged! Our room had not been cleaned properly as the dust was thick on the head boards and the skirting boards, the glass shelf in the bathroom was very streaky as was the dressing table top. The bedside table was ringmarked and streaky as well. I know these are small points but when paying £200 + for a night would have expected a bit more attention to detail. 🤔
Warm, lovely views, plenty of staff but not very attentive. The reception staff were excellent, chatty and offered to help with our luggage AND drove us back to the ferry when we were ready to leave.

United KingdomOur room was a bit noisy, there was like a machine sound/boiler making noise intermittently. The water pressure of the shower was very very low. The bed was sinking a bit.
Amazing location, great outdoor area, the food at the restaurant was delicious. They offered to carry our back to the Ferry. The lounge area has incredible views.

United KingdomWhile the food in the restaurant was lovely, the descriptions on the menu may need a bit more information. My wife had the Iona seaweed battered cod but it didn't say anything about a spicy sauce that it was served in which appeared to be chilli based and was hot! (needs to include how spicy the food is as a guide on the menu as not everyone likes or can tolerate spicy food) and we did hear others in the restaurant complaining about the same thing. We did get forgot about at breakfast but it was soon rectified and no harm done as we were in no hurry by then, as were fully relaxed after a good nights rest!
What is not to like about the amazing location, stunning scenery and full of history as well! The staff were very friendly and helpful too. I loved the local food in the restaurant on the night (I can highly recommend the venison steak, the sauce with it was amazing, I wasn't sure I was going to like it but loved it). The hotel is an excellent base to explore Iona and the rooms, while quite small, are lovely and comfortable to get a good nights rest.

United KingdomNothing, really. The shower came away from the stand on the wall, but it was easy to fix. It may have been nice to have a television 📺 in the room, but I appreciate that not everyone watches tv when on vacation.
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and friendly 🙂 The Isle of Iona is spiritual and calming. We only had a little bit of time there, so we would love to return and stay longer next time.
