Dorm beds and toilets are not much clean

“The room was quite hot and the windows only opened a few centimeters. The bathroom was very small, but otherwise it would have been fine. However, £300 per night for this room felt really overpriced, even in August.”

The location was perfect, close to everything and right across from the train station. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was excellent for this price. Opposite the hostel there’s a nice sports pub they work together with, and that’s also where breakfast is served.”

Drunk people that weren't staying in the hostel had access to the main hall, it was intimidating.

I experienced a cyber security/fraud issue with my booking at this hostel, which was made through booking.com. It appears that the hostel's account was compromised, and I received suspicious messages with a link to make online payments, claiming my booking would be cancelled if I didn't pay within a few hours. The link mimicked the booking.com webpage and attempted to charge my credit card for €389. Thankfully, my bank's OTP system alerted me to the potential fraud, and I was able to prevent the charge. However, I incurred credit card renewal charges as a result of this incident. I'm concerned that the cyber security measures in place may not have been sufficient to protect my information. I hope the hostel takes this feedback seriously and reviews their cyber security protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future. Guests' financial security should be a top priority.

The second night, from checking in to go to the room to check out, was not very enjoyable for me

I stay with St Christopher a lot of days. My first day was amazing . The other room and block over the road was better than room 405 . The shower 🚿 facilities were not clean properly. The matters were uncomfortable, and the services from checking in on my second day when I decided to stay another day was not very welcoming from the girl what checkme in to the sdirty room and broken lockers in room to the guy what cgeck me out . The first night was brilliant, but the second night moving rooms, and the whole stay was not enjoyable at all .

The only unpleasant part was at check-in: we arrived early and had to use the paid luggage storage. However, we weren’t sure how to use it and when we asked the staff, the communication wasn’t very good. The explanation provided was not clear. But when we returned in the evening, a different staff member was there, and they were much more friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was delicious and offered a great variety. The location is absolutely outstanding – right in the heart of the Old Town, and we could walk everywhere.

Cleanliness of the bathrooms is terrible and can tell they are not cleaned regularly. Bathroom in the 8 bed dorm is inside the room and the toilet and shower did not look like they had been cleaned throughout the day. I got back to the room one afternoon, the bathroom was dirty and so I submitted a clean request form using their QR code - wasn’t cleaned by the next morning, nor the morning after that. Communal bathrooms also didn’t look like they were cleaned regularly.

Location is great, close to the train and bus links on princes st. Hostel also has a lift which is an added bonus for Edinburgh. Lockers offer 24 hour storage which is great.
