Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesBooking said there were room available, I walked in to book a room rather than through the site because it was 12:30am. The front deal staff had me wait around for 40 mins to eventually tell me the two rooms on the site were “out of service”. I booked a toom for the following night and sent a message asking that if my room become available before 4pm, please let me know.. I was emailed back with “if you booked in advance we would be able to accommodate you.” This was my 4th stay- and I my go to hotel after a ling trip to the highlands.
I love the facilities, location, and the comfort of the large rooms.

GreeceWe visited during August which is the peak period so the increased price we paid was probably driven by this. But it was still a competitive for our dates based on multiple searches I did on Booking and other platforms.
Spacious family room with 2 comfortable double beds a desk, a couch, a coffee table and still lots of space to move around despite the 5 pieces of luggage we had with us. Lots of plugs for your charge hungry devices. It also had a huge air conditioning unit which cooled the room in seconds after you turned it on. Very convenient location, about 10 mins uphill walk from Edinburgh castle and the Royal Mile but still close enough to everything. This was good as we visited Edinburgh during August when the center was absolutely flooded with people so our location was a little quieter. The staff were very polite and helpful. Overall a great stay.

NetherlandsThe pull-out sofa bed that I slept in was quite old and had a big dent in the middle. So by the end of our stay, my back was hurting quite a bit. However, my friends slept in the double bed and said it was extremely comfortable.
The location was incredible. Just far away enough from the centre to not be bothered by how crowded it was there, but close enough that we could easily reach everywhere by foot. The room was also light and comfortable.

IrelandBecause they were renovating, the breakfast was very cramped and had to be taken by tray to our room. Also, there was a mould issue in the bathroom, which I hope they will address, as it is not consistent with how the rest of the hotel is maintained.
The room was very large & spacious for me, my wife and our daughter. We were there because our daughter was running the Edinburgh Marathon, and the location could not have been better to get to her starting point!

QatarBreakfast was good but it was the same menu and same food on all the three days. There has to be some change in the food served. We understand the scrambled eggs are from pasteurized liquid eggs but one cannot have scrambled eggs every day. Possibly a weekly menu which gets rotated every day would have added much more variety to the breakfast buffet.
The Staff. Right from the Check In. I was checked in by Rohan and Vishal who were very helpful. The other staff throughout our stay were very courteous and helpful at all times.

GermanyThe building modifications were an issue in that there was no breakfast place to sit down and the offerings somewhat basic. Still the hotel performed the best it could under such circumstances. Luckily many of the rooms had a small kitchen attached so that one could retreat to ones room to have consume the breakfast.
The room was nice and large and had a small kitchen included. Thereby one could always make a tea of coffee. The room was in good condition and with a nice shower. The hotel is in walking distance of the main tourist attractions and there is a good public transport service to support locals and visitors. The staff were very pleasant and cooperative despite difficult conditions (the hotel was being modified during out stay).

PolandThe network of Marriott Hotels is renown of high standards and quality. Yet, the management of the hotel (please do not confuse with the staff) decided to make savings on catering at the expense of the guests. Namely, there was a widespread renovation of the ground floor, that including painting, plastering, etc. Apart from the smell of paint, lound noises of drills, etc. there was only very limited number of tables and guests were requested to to take food upstairs (i.e. to their rooms). There was also a contant shortage of cutlery (forks, spoons, etc.) and the number of staff members dedicated to breakfast services was very limited. The choice of food was very limited and often replacements (e.g scrambled eggs, cheese) did not arrive on time and in the continuous fashion. To be honest, avarage breakfast in a two-star hotel in Poland would beat available food quality during my stay by several lengths. In earlier this spring I spent couple of days in the Virgin Hotel in Edinburgh, where the food was fabulous, so I was surprise that Marriott was so below this standard. In summary, I appreciate that hotel management may be forced to do make necessary renovations at SOME POINT, yet in such circumstances they should at least: 1. Inform the guests about these inconveniences prior to arrival by phone or mail (there is always a poosiblity to change the hotel); 2. Offer discount for substandard breakfast services and/or book proper catering, e.g. in some building or cafe close to the hotel, where adequate standards can be provide.
Hotel is perfectly located close to the Edinburgh University in the city centre. Rooms are spacious and include kitchen annex that is very well equipped. Bed was very compfortable. Staff members were friendly and helpful.
