How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Too hot in late afternoon and evenings in July. Noisy with the nearby restaurant which has loud night music almost every night.

Signs everywhere warning of £100 fines for various things made us uncomfortable. Pub next door very noisy til late

Parking information is misleading as it said Parking, but in fact they do not have their own parking and we had to park in paying car park near by that they recommended. We wouldn’t have booked the hotel if we had to find a car park by ourselves, costed extra for this. Would have booked elsewhere with free parking.

Bed was a little soft for my liking, but just a personal preference
Amazing location for exploring Cambridge. Having our own kitchen was g eat and a massive money saver. Even has washing machine.

The room was dark....only one tiny window at the top since the room is in the basement. This didn't bother us much as we only spent minimal time in there. Also my bed felt damp....the one by the fireplace. The other one was fine. The room was accessed by some particularly steep stairs which might not suit some people. The bathroom was lovely, but there was nowhere to hang your clothes while showering. A small coat hook on the back of the door would solve this. We were only given a bath towel each and there was one handtowel in the bathroom. I would prefer to have had a hand towel each.
The room was in a good location close to the centre and station. The towels and sheets were lovely and clean. Bathroom and room were clean and luckily for us we didn't have to share the bathroom with any other room. Kitchen had fridge and kettle but this was shared. Great communication from the owner and easy access to the building.

It wasn’t as clean as hoped, but it was all right!
Very central , easy to walk to everything. We had a late check in and it was very easy self service, very clear instructions and hosts were very communicative. We also could store our luggage for the day.

No plug for wash basin. Electric shower not working as well as it should, perhaps needs replacing or servicing?
Central location, surprisingly quiet. Clean, with comfortable bed. Good communication from host, couldn't fault these aspects. Stay was excellent value for money.

The bed was uncomfortable and the shower was leaking. The shower was all wet when we arrived to the property. The air was also a bit stale in the room.
The location was great for our needs. A bit noisy in the evening, but otherwise good. The kitchen was also really nice!

Sadly the toilet flush in the communal bathroom wasn’t working properly however there was an alternative bathroom so no problem!
Great location for exploring Cambridge.

Tiny rooms in loft. Parking situation not optimal. I prefer a hotel where you actually see a receptionist.

The check in process does not feel super secure as all keys to all rooms are made available at the entrance. It would also be great to have a little table lamp next to the bed which was not there in my room.

Our room was very cold and the heater didn t quite work. We suffered a bit during the night (to be honest we didn t ask for help so they might have solved it if we had)
Great position, next to a big park and close to the centre and the most famous colleges. Train station in walkable distance. Easy to access, nice the possibility to leave the luggage during the day. Didn't use the kitchen but it was clean and spacious. Convenient price.
