As a walker would prefer a bath but these are increasingly rare !!

Lovely staff - After a week of walking the ridgeway( with a backpack ) it was great to have sloe gin and bathrobes in the room. ( as well as high class tea/ coffee and full range of posh toiletries ) These treats make a difference . Also right on the Ridgeway path do no extra steps needed!

Being located opposite the pub garden was quite noisy at night. Bed was also small.

Strangely, there appeared not to be any milk or equivalents in the room despite an impressive array of tea and coffee options. I am not especially convinced by the distressed floor boards that line the walls in the restaurant and bar areas. These jar with the oak panelling and appear faddish and a mistake! Otherwise, truly excellent!

I am so impressed that the Red Lion continues to fulfil its historic purpose after hundreds of years as an inn and does this so brilliantly in the 21st Century. The location and ambiance are massive strengths. The staff are immensely warm, courteous and efficient. The food, wines and ales are delicious and the sloe gin in the room was a very nice touch, as was the addition of bathrobes. The rooms are perfectly in proportion for a building of this age, and the facilities are good. I will most definitely return and recommend the Red Lion wholeheartedly.

This time there was a wedding taking place, I don’t know if this had a bearing but I ordered a sharing platter on arrival, we took a drink to the courtyard and waited over 45 minutes for the food to arrive, when it did we were very underwhelmed it really wasn’t worth the £29 cost for a large pile of salad, 3 strips of cured meat, a scotch egg and 4 very small ribs, the bread was piled high but the two tiny pieces of pate that were served would have been enough for a slice of bread, this was not substantial for 2 people. Breakfast was included, I asked 3 times for gluten free bread so that I could have a piece of toast it arrived with my actual breakfast, again this was under wheeling and was. Cold with hard poached eggs- such a shame as previously when we have eaten the food had been fabulous.

We have friends locally so have stayed here a couple of times, we like the location and the rooms, it’s also handy having food and drink on site for arrival.

The room was very warm and the landing outside was too. We had a fan in our room so that did help.

A great combination oven hold 16th century pub with lovely modern features and furniture. I would love to have this as my local pub. It had everything lovely outside dining area very modern inside area you could have a shot of whiskey as a nightcap for free you could have a shot of sloe gin in your room for free. The bed was comfortable. The bathrooms were big and modern And it was in an idle location for where we need to be. The breakfast was also great. it is hard to afford this hotel and pub.

Our only complaint is the windows would not open in our room.

This place is a gem! The building is full of well maintained character and charm. The staff were helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was fantastic. Free parking! The rooms are beautifully decorated and come with all kinds of extras; pillow spray, shortbread biscuits, a liqueur for a nightcap, lovely bathroom products, chilled water and milk for tea, high end selection of teas, Dyson cool air fans, etc. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms spacious. Great value for price and wish we could have stayed longer!

    Nothing.

A lovely boutique hotel in Wendover with stylish decor. Sockets were well positioned in relation to the mirrors, for getting ready. A lovely touch to have the Sloe Gin for a nightcap and proper milk in tiny milk bottles for making tea and coffee. The bathroom was rather snug, but just big enough. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful. We had breakfast, which was great, with locally sourced produce. Although we didn't go downstairs to the pub, as we were out all day, it looked lovely and was obviously very popular and busy. It was a nice surprise, therefore, that we couldn't hear any noise when we went up to our room.
