Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomService was very slow in both restaurants and at breakfast. We had to ask for everything rather than a waitress checking if we needed anything eg menu order/drinks/pudding etc. Tables are not served in order of booking/arrival and there seems to be no clear system in place for the restaurants to make sure that customers get the service they are paying for.
Friendly Staff and the food was lovely.

United KingdomThe only thing I didn’t like which spoilt a part of our stay… we booked for the sunday BBQ which is where you would have breakfast. We were unable to have a space outside so we sat inside on the green long sofa in the conservatory, dogs are obviously allowed to sit on the sofa too as it was filthy with stains and marks , dog hairs all over and we had to sit with our lovely clothes on it ! It needs a very good clean and surely people should be told to keep their animals off the sofa and furniture. It could do with a very good clean as it is very off putting especially when you would be eating.
Such a fabulous location and the staff are exceptional in all areas of the hotel. This is our second time to stay this year and we loved it just as much as the first ! The location is great, the Sunday bbq was just lovely and the room was spacious and had everything you needed with a wonderfully comfy bed !

United Kingdomthe room kettle needing to be moved to boil was abit strange as there was no socket in tea/coffee area . the spa cost for the length of time you get really needs to change(£90 for 2 for 2 hours). the top hotel is more expensive and no aircon. the tower fan only stays on for 120 mins so your up and down in the night to turn it back on to stay cool. also lots of building work going on at the entrance which is abit unsightly at the moment
the beds were comfy. the balcony bbq was lovely. the food was good in the restaurant.

United KingdomStaff a little inconsistent and no one seemed to be on the same page. Also, the price of £190 for the night without breakfast or spa use was unreasonable. To use the spa for 2 hours and have breakfast it would have cost an extra £140 totalling £330 for 1 night b&b with 2 hours spa use. In my opinion this is outrageous.
Rooms were beautiful, beds comfy. Lovely surroundings. Bbq was lovely.

United KingdomDirty tables, mirrors and seat coverings in the orangery. No lattes or cappuccinos available for breakfast. Breakfast buffet was poor and not 5 star. No air conditioning in the main hotel. All in all overpriced.
The bedroom was looking lovely but no aircon so it was too warm to sleep. The breakfast was poor quality, definitely not 5 star and no comparison to 5 star hotels abroad. No lattes or cappuccinos available at breakfast which is very poor for a so called 5 star hotel. The pizzeria was good but seating in there as in the main hotel is uncomfortable. Benches are not comfortable to sit on and eat. The benches in the breakfast area were filthy, covered in food stains, probably because you can’t reach the table properly from the uncomfortable bench. It’s a nice hotel overall but could do so much better and it’s not worth the price tag.

United KingdomThe table on our balcony was very dirty with spills from the person before. I used a wet wipe to clean it. This should have been cleaned by housekeeping also the glass lampshade on the ceiling was thick with dust. If clear glass shades are going to be used they need regular cleaning
The room, decor, gardens, atmosphere, quiet room, facilities in the room, buggy to ferry us to and from main building, good parking, staff, food was good but not superb, closeness to Sandsend beach and Whitby
